    1. Intro

    As the sun rises over the town of Firminooooooaaaaallll, an army hazmat truck drives towards the town's military base. The driver is nervous as he is carrying an experimental virus developed in secret by the army's top virologist who is awaiting its delivery.

    The truck skids on some spilt oil. Just like a bad B-movie. It crashes into a tree, the virus escapes. It infects a nearby townsperson. You can probably see where this is going.

    The infected townsperson is transformed into a super zombie. They have the power of the undead, but cannot be detected by a living person. They walk calmly back towards the town, intent on infected everyone they encounter. They arrive back just in time for the emergency town meeting, where the townspeople have just decided that, no matter how badly it has worked out in the past, they are going to lynch one townsperson every night until they find and eliminate the Mafia.

    Oh, and that pesky serial killer has been sending death threats and saying they are going to start killing people from Tuesday evening....

    2. The Rules

    - The game will run on 24 hour rounds. Start time is 10am Tuesday. Night will fall at 9pm each night

    - Roles will be randomly assigned. Roles will be passed to participant by the forum conversation system. Be ready to get a PM, be sure to check before 10am and keep checking

    - ONLY those on assigned teams can communicate privately, no other private communication between participants is allowed. Mafia can strategize via pm as much as they wish and communicate findings

    - Role specific actions are communicated to games master by PM up to 9pm each night, you miss the time you don’t get you action.

    - No PMs of any type are allowed to be published. If you get one you cannot use it as proof or you will be removed from game.

    - Public forum is used to vote IN BOLD for who the town will lynch. Accusations, discussions and all sorts are permitted. Vote changing and re-changing is perfectly fine. You can claim anything you want at any time. Assume bad guys will be doing this as strategy. A simple majority vote is required to lynch. Someone must be lynched each day

    - Once a participant is lynched they get ONE free eulogy post where they can say I told you so and no more. Do not post any game related comments to influence the play

    - Each player can only make one action per night. So if the Mafia, journo or SK are recruited into the army they have to choose which option to take

    - All shoot outs between zombies, private, cop, hunter, serial killer and hitman are based on independent rolls, so both could die / be infected, one could die / be infected or both could walk away.

    - Posts that hurt the game will be deleted (by a nice mod hopefully!)

    - As per usual, anyone breaking the rules or trying to screw up the game will get Ebola

    Win conditions

    o Mafia win when they outnumber all other players

    o Zombies win when the super zombies plus zombies outnumber all other players

    o Serial killer wins if all other players are dead

    o Townspeople win when all bad guys are wiped out

    Order of actions

    1. Lynching occurs

    2. Cop acts (lock up or zombie hunting, can also recruit as a bonus action)

    3. Zombies act

    4. Mafia act

    5. Serial killer acts

    6. Hunter acts

    7. Army acts (zombie hunting and recruit)

    8. Masons recruit

    9. Investigations occur

    10. The newspaper will be published

    3. The Zombies


    The super zombie has the power to infect one person each night. The town will be notified when an infection occurs as a blood trail will be found.

    That townsperson will become infected. But they will remain as a townsperson and will not know who the super zombie is. The super zombie will be able control them through PMs, directing them which way to vote each night.

    If the superzombie is lynched then they manage to bite two people, determined at random, during the lynching. These two people die in their homes later than evening, and are reincarnated as zombies. This will be the zombie team's last hurrah and chance at victory once the SZ is gone.

    The number of death infections will depend on the current number of zombies, so the extra infections won't happen if this would mean the zombies win straight away (if they are three zombies and five others left, for example).

    The infected can post anything they want on the thread, and make any number of votes during the day, but if they have not made the required vote at the end of the day their brain will explode. Also, if the infected reveals that they have been infected, brain also explodes. They die, in other words.

    Infected that have a town role can still use that role until they die. They can decide to use it for the benefit of the town or the zombie team. This will be done by sending me a PM which I will pass to the super zombie.

    If an infected person is lynched or serial killed, they will die and be buried, then rise from the grave before daybreak. They then become a zombie, who can infect one person each night, but with a 50% chance of success. Zombies will be identified to the town, do not have votes, and cannot be lynched. If a zombie tries to bite the cop, hunter or hitman they have a 50% chance of being shot dead

    No, you can't burn or headshot the bodies before they are buried. Stop trying to spoil the game already (anticipating question <whistle>)

    If the super zombie is found by the town and killed off by head shot then the infected revert to being normal townspeople.

    The idea here is that the infected have to vote a specific way, but aren't fully zombified yet. They can still decide to resist if they want, or act suspicious, get lynched and be full zombies. Or try and work out who the SZ might be and get the town to kill them before they become full zombies.

    4. The Mafia

    General powers

    The Mafia undergoes a strict indoctrination process which allows them to resist the effects of infection. They will still be infected, and become zombies if they die, but they can reveal that they are infected to their fellow Mafia, and don't have to vote the way they are told.Of course if they don't vote the way they are told, then the super zombie will figure out they are either Mafia or the serial killer.

    A bitten Mafioso will not learn who the super zombie is.

    They remain Mafia aligned until lynched at which point they become zombies

    The Don

    The Mafia Don runs the Mafia with an iron fist. He has the ability to recruit one additional Mafia member. The new member will at first have no mafia role, but will take over the role of the first Mafioso to die. However as an untested recruit, their chances of success in any action will be halved (50% chance to kill, 25% chance in shootouts, 50% chance to rob store or hack paper, 75% chance of being discovered on second hack)

    If the Mafia recruits the super zombie or serial killer, this individual is recruited successfully but retains their previous allegiance. So they will still be the super zombie or serial killer, and will not be part of the Mafia team, but will gain access to the Mafia board and the Mafia will not know they have been infiltrated

    The Hitman

    Does exactly what it says on the tin. Can make one kill per night

    A crack shot who aims for the head, and thus prevents targets rising as zombies. However the town is under a strict crackdown due to Mafia activity, and the hitman starts with only two bullets. Any more must either be bought on the black market, for $20,000 a pop, or stolen from the police station

    If the hitman is attacked by a zombie or the hunter, they have a shootout with a 50% chance of killing each other, provided both have bullets

    If the hitman targets the cop, serial killer, private, or virologist (if private is still alive) there is a shoot out

    The hitman can choose to hunt a zombie if one or more exists in the town. They have a 50% chance of finding one of the zombies and killing it. If there is more than one zombie, the zombie killed is decided by coin flip

    The Thief

    The thief has light fingers and a skilled touch. He has three options for each night:

    1. Rob a store in town, netting the Mafia a cool risk free $10,000

    2. Break into the newspaper and hack tomorrow's paper. This can be done twice, but not on consecutive nights. The first time has a 100% chance of success. The second time has a 100% chance of success, but a 50% chance the thief is identified by the journo on the CCTV they installed after the first hack. After the second time, the computer security is upgraded and the thief can no longer hack the paper

    3. Rob the police station. This gains two bullets for the Mafia. However if the cop is in the police station at night then they have a 50% chance to kill the thief, and if the hunter tries to rob the police station on the same night, they have a 50% chance to kill the thief

    If the thief chooses to rob a store or hacks the paper, this action will not be reported to the town

    5. The Serial Killer

    Just a nut job with a Bowie knife. The serial killer carries an old war wound which has damaged their cerebellum, giving them the same ability to resist infection as the Mafia.

    As a former Special Forces veteran, they are able to sneak up on their target, and thus can kill most people with no risk. Only exceptions are the cop and private, who wear body armour, thus necessitating a shoot out, and the virologist, who will be protected by the private. Of the SK goes after the virologist, there is a 50% chance the private shoots the SK, and an independent 50% chance the SK will kill the virologist. The private will be safe whatever happens.

    The serial killer can choose one person to kill each night. If they kill an infected then the infected will rise as a zombie.

    If the serial killer is attacked by a zombie, they have a 50% chance of chopping the zombie's head off. Basically a shoot out with 50% chance zombie dies and 50% chance SK is infected.

    6. The town

    None of the town can resist infection

    Sub team 1: Army

    Army virologist

    The nutter who created the virus now has to cover his mistakes. He can't call the army as they would string him up for his lunatic experiments. He can investigate one townsperson every day, but will only find out if they are the super zombie / infected or not. He cannot identify Mafia.

    His investigations start from the second night, as he does not realise what has happened until the first infection occurs.

    The Private

    This impressionable young GI has been blackmailed by the virologist into helping him. The private will protect the virologist and himself from any zombie, SK or Mafia attack, necessitating a shoot out. If the virologist is targeted, the coin flip will be for them to die / be infected, not the private

    From the second night onwards, the army can recruit one person into their ranks. The virologist can teach this person how to investigate zombies. The person will retain any other role they have, so this could give the Mafia or SK knowledge of who the private and virologist are and the ability to investigate zombies

    Sub team 2: Masons

    Two freemasons

    There are two free masons in the town. They cannot resist infection.

    They can recruit one additional member into their ranks, but if they recruit SK or Mafia then the recruit remains SK or Mafia aligned.

    The Masons one power is that if two or more masons vote for the same person in a coin flip, that person automatically wins the coin flip. This applies if one of the Masons is Mafia or SK

    Other roles

    Cop

    The cop is known to the town. They have body armour and good reflexes, and thus any attempt to kill them by anyone results in a shoot out. They have access to the police station and thus unlimited bullets.

    The cop cannot be recruited by the Mafia, army or masons, but can be bitten by the super zombie. If bitten, the cop cannot resist voting commands, but will remain town aligned unless killed by the serial killer (I'm assuming the town won't flip out and lynch the cop <whistle>)

    The cop has three powers:

    - Lock up. The cop can choose to lock up one person each night, protecting them from being killed or infected other than by lynching, and preventing them from using any powers

    - Zombie hunting. The cop has the ability to hunt one zombie each night, same deal as the Hitman

    - Recruit a detective. The cop can recruit one person to become a detective. This person can investigate someone and find out if they are Mafia or not. They cannot determine if people are zombies or not. The person retains their previous alignment, so may be Mafia or SK

    Hunter

    The town's resident deer hunter. Trained in the ways of the outdoors and an expert shot, he has decided to take up Mafia hunting, and will probably later try his hand at zombie hunting.

    The hunter starts with three bullets, and works the same as the hitman. He can also rob the police station for an extra two bullets.
    - If the thief is there and the hunter has bullets he will shoot at him. If the thief survives, he will identify the hunter to the rest of the Mafia
    - If the cop is there, he has a 50% chance of arresting the hunter and confiscating his rifle. The hunter will then become an ordinary townie, and can be identified as such by the cop

    If the hunter is attacked by the hitman or a zombie, or attacks the serial killer, there will be a shoot out.

    The hunter can hunt zombies.

    Journalist

    The town's resident hack. He publishes a paper every morning, based on his investigations every night. He can investigate one person each night and find if they are Mafia or not, but cannot identify zombies.

    DAYBREAK

    The town dragged ACS from his house and hung him from the nearest tree.
    Investigation of his home revealed that ACS was an army private from the nearby base

    The town cop arrested MITO and took him to the station for questioning
    Facing a surge in Mafia activity, the cop recruited a detective to aid him in investigating the Mafia

    A blood trail was found in a nearby alleyway. Closer inspection revealed that a zombie has bitten and infected someone

    The Mafia have recruited a new member
    afcftw was found face down in a pool of his own blood, bearing the unmistakable signs of a Mafia hit
    A shop in town was robbed and $10k in cash was stolen. Police say this looks like the work of a Mafia thief
    afcftw was identified as a townsperson with no role

    Bodanki was found dead in a local park. He had been gutted by the local serial killer

    Day 3 Summary

    DAYBREAK

    The town hung Valley from the nearest tree. When the police checked Valley's fingerprints they found he was a Mafia Thief who had committed a series of robberies in the area

    The police arrested Sir Tennisball and took him in for questioning

    A blood trail was found in the town...another townsperson has been infected tonight

    In Biscan We Trust was found gutted in his home, clearly the work of a deranged serial killer. Biscan was buried in the local cemetery, but rose from the dead in the early hours of the morning. Analysis of the scene indicates that Biscan was a Super Zombie who is now a zombie who fled into the nearby woods. Analysis also indicates that the serial killer has now been infected

    Tobes was shot in the face by the Mafia. The investigation revealed that he was a townsperson with no role but forensic tests on his brain matter, after it had been scraped up off the street, revealed that he had been infected
    Rumours about in the local market that both the army and the masons recruited new members to their cause last night

    DAYBREAK

    Under pressure from the town, Lucaaas lynched himself. The post mortem revealed that he was the deranged serial killer who had been terrorising the town, and a search of his house also revealed that he had been recruited to the Mafia

    Biscan's
    rotting corpse was found on the edge of the woods. Closer inspection revealed his head had been blown off by a hunting rifle, thus ending his life and releasing all people he infected

    As he was lynched before Biscan was killed, Lucaaas rose from the dead and became the town's new zombie
