The Gates of Delirium -wasn't that where 'Arry used to roll down the car window? and now for something completely different ..
Not bad. The lead singer looks like Clare Grogan and they have a Shop Assistants look and imagery. Nothing like recycling - all the best bands did it. And it's staggering to think their influences were around 30 years ago! 30 years since The JAMC confused the pap pop lovers on TOTP. Not quite New Kids On The Block were they?
glad you liked them, it's not often that anyone else likes my stuff! I had to go and see Mogwai on my own because nobody else would come!! Luckily I'm not sensitive !
Too true! JAMC were definately era-defining My son's drumming teacher plays with Clare Grogan and Altered Images on the 80's circuit, although she's also had her own success with all female punk band The Hedrons....
I get the same problem, even though Mrs Steelmonkey has a very open mind when it comes to music, she still puts her foot down sometimes and I end up going alone! To be honest, she listens to some wierd stuff too, so we're well suited!!!
I love these guys. Big Ramones, Beach Boys, JAMC influences in their songs. Ignore their name - it was meant to poke fun at the "art ***" community in Portsmouth, New Hampshire where they hail from. But it can only have backfired and held them back. They were on Lookout records with Green Day, who got the breaks, but they didn't.
