Very true, but they don't get an entourage of butlers, maids, cooks etc thrown in for life like the Royals do.
The crown estate wouldn't go into the governments hands if we removed the queen, I believe it was mentioned in the House of Commons a couple of years ago and clarified that legally the royals would keep the crown estate, not only that but if no longer the head of state would no longer have to pay the profits off the crown estate into public coffers. I.e. The royals would be a lot richer if we removed them and the country would lose out on a few hundred million a year in crown estate income.
Nope, in America they come with the job not the family, so the job exists for life but the family changes.
The CIA doesn't have adverts for "presidential bodyguards", some of their highly trained staff obviously apply for that duty or volunteer or are ordered to do it.
So you reckon the US first families past and present have maids and butlers etc for life as well as bodyguards?
Yes, and immunity from prosecution for war crimes and protecting crony *****s from the exposue thrown in for good measure.
Nah Diego, when they finish their presidency they only get the bodyguards, the Whitehouse staff work for the government not the individual.
That's what I am saying, the staff are still there but working for another family whereas in England they work for the same family all the time
But, whereas the royal household is made up of footmen, batmen, ladies in waiting, butlers, housemaids etc the yanks just have assistants wearing everyday clobber not penguin suits and outfits from hundreds of years ago.
What I wonder about is why you British pay 35 million per year to sustain a German Royal family? They are Germans through and through. Saxe-Coburg Gotha.Taking their new name from Windsor castle doesn't change that fact.
