they are "held in trust for future generations" Future generations of who? Royals Just think how much it would pull in if you ditched the royals and started selling fulll tours and made it partly into a hotel for the mega rich
I asked as I thought the royals owned it. If that were the case then it would be considered the queens. That would have made her worth £5.5b using the figures you posted (I quoted). So, if they are in trust, what are the possibilities? Why in trust?
I don't know the details to be honest but I bet it is a mere fake technicality, cos if she doesn't own the Palace she doesn't have to pay for its upkeep Crown Estates hold it in trust. In trust for the Royal family
That depends on the agreement. My work building is given to us in trust be we have to maintain it. The benefit is, we don't have to pay rent etc. If something happens to the charity, we can pass out to another local charity or hand it back to the owners. (Just an example)
They get to live in 6 palaces/stately homes for jack ****. Q12. Does The Queen own Buckingham Palace? A. Occupied Royal Palaces, such as Buckingham Palace, are not the private property of The Queen. They are occupied by the Sovereign and held in trust for future generations. There are two categories of Royal residences: the occupied Royal Palaces and the unoccupied Royal Palaces. The former comprises Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, St. James’s Palace, Kensington Palace (excluding the State Apartments) and Clarence House, and are used by members of the Royal Family and their Households. The latter are no longer used as residences by the Sovereign and comprises Hampton Court, the Tower of London, the State Apartments at Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House at Whitehall, and Kew Palace with Queen Charlotte’s Cottage. Buckingham Palace is not only the London home of The Queen; The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Princess Alexandra also have private offices and apartments located within the Palace. The Queen privately owns two properties, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House, which are not publicly funded http://www.royal.gov.uk/FrequentlyAskedQuestions/20 most asked questions.aspx
Yeah but the palace in a trust belonging to the state. ie you So you get to pay for its upkeep You should demand to stay there with the wife and kids
Not at all, president of the US only lives there for his term of office, the Royals get to live in the royal residences for life and don't have to worry about getting elected like the US president has to.
And every time they change presidents the new one gets to redecorate throughout at the tax payers expense. At least our lot only do it when it needs it .
Stop making stories up. The Whitehouse living quarters is nowhere near as big as the Queens many living quarters in her many free homes.
I'd say the whitehouse and all it's staff cost a lot anyways cos a **** load of gov business is done there. A lot of staff. The royals just live in the palace at your expense and while making their own millions of £
They don't have to pay lecky, gas or water bills, have servants and gardeners etc, probably the only thing they do themselves is wipe the royal backside after going for a Turkish. But it wouldn't surprise me if they had a servant to do it.
