I've asked my kids who Jesus is and they look at me blank faced, not a clue what i'm talking about. Good that they don't get religion shoved down their throats like we did when we were kids but quite sad in a way too.
Aye I think for guys its a faux way of making the relationship a tad more "official" without actually making anything official, and the girls like it, because, as you say, they get a big diamond out of it
I edited slightly. It is sad that its come to this too IMO, it was part of British schooling heritage that has been destroyed because we have become ethnically deserve.
I'm pretty certain that engagement properly only has that meaning, regardless of religion - you are engaged to be married. Although what each individual interprets into their own situation is of course their own thing. From you put, it sounds a bit like you just want a non-legally-recognised marriage?
I am still here with my calculator trying to calculate how a gay man marrying another gay man effects other christians's family values .
The 'real Daddy' comment - like you I agree nothing in it, kids say all sorts of stuff. Have you ever been to a parents evening where their work is on show and you can read their books, look at their pictures/projects etc. Some of the things I read in their little news books were hilarious, you wonder what the teachers must think of their home life.
I've not missed a parents evening. Not only do I want to know how they're doing but I usually have issues I want to discuss too such as uneaten lunch, missing uniforms, not wearing his glasses etc. RE; hilarious things they write... My eldest was asked to write about "what makes you angry". His response was on two lines: - "Spiders" - "My brother knocking me out" His brother is two years and three months younger
I think it's about procreation. Marriage has always been between a man and a woman. Historically it was about uniting families, gaining property etc. Marrying for love is a very recent thing and since it's been about love, it was only a matter of time before same sex marriage came about.
Like two men who adopt a child lets say, I call that a family, traditionalists would not, but the thing is, it doesn't hurt traditionalists if two men marry. People are always looking for an outlet for their outrage They are rooted firmly in the past, a past where being gay was not accepted, I mean, gay men were around long before marraige after all
What so because some guy has married another guy, that means thats two guys taken out of the picture who could've married women and procreated? Aye back in Medieval times marriages were political. Father A wants to increase the financial and political standings of his family so marries his Son to the daughter of Father B, who has larger lands and more money, Father B then pays Father A a dowry for taking on his daughter, which was usually a cash sum, livestock or a small piece of land.
I genuinely couldn't give less of a **** if a marriage is between a male and female, two males or two females. Equally, I don't care about said couples having kids either. Whatever makes people happy.
Indeed. Its not like they were gonna marry women before, but now gay marriage is legal, they have decided to be gay and marry a bloke. They were still gay beforehand. Some conservatives think that gay marriage being legal will create "new" gays out of straight men. "Well i was straight, but only because gays couldn't marry, now they can, think I will switch to the other team".....people actually think it works like this
Yes and because of that traditionalists want them treated differently and they just go and forget all the tolerance stuff they learned. What is so annoying is religious people can be the omost intolerant ****ers you can come across
I think two men or two women can raise a child just fine. Look at how many are raised well by single parents! ... And how many are raised badly by a Mum and a Dad. In an ideal world every child would be raised by the people who created him/her but it's not an ideal world.
True that and as we know, there are many kids in orphanages and gay couples in the US especially adopt a lot of these unwanted kids. Darn those gays trying to gie these kids a stable life
