  1. Inheritance tax only kicks in at £250k, its not even going to be half that and on top of that, I'm leaving everything to my three boys! No way I'll ever be worth over £750k <laugh>

  9. This isn't fanboy or grumpy MITO, is it the Dribs MITO...? WTF you chewing on? <laugh>

Yes, I work for a charity but I also get paid. Not vast sums but enough for me to be able to afford my own house, car, etc. No idea who you're suggesting are the "gougers" or why you think they rob charities. Not going to even attempt to understand the last sentence <laugh>

You said in a previous thread neither of you were bothered but if you did get married, she wanted a big church wedding, I took that to mean with all the trimmings, my mistake if that wasn't what you meant. Anyway I was sticking up for you based on that conversation ... saving money etc <grr>

  11. Fair enough. cheers for sticking up for me then I guess <laugh>

She said a church but she wouldn't want a big wedding which would certainly suit me fine. I do have a problem with this ATM. The seven (will be eight next month) and five year olds keep mentioning it and asking why we don't have the same name. In fact, on Friday, the youngest said "you're our Daddy but you not our proper Daddy are you" to which I questioned why and they're response: "because you've not married Mummy" <grr>

    Edit: my response was...

"I am your real Daddy. Mummies the one that's got a different name and not married me" <whistle>

I would be looking for whoever was filling their heads with such bullshit so i could call them out on it.
Why on earth would it be a requirement for you to be married in order for you to be their "real dad". I would be ****ing seething if my child said that to me.

  14. Its just kids stuff. Most of the kids in their classes at school have parents that aren't married.

Well yeah, but they got that idea from somewhere.
I would have at least asked them where they got that idea from

    hehe
You are one of those couples that has been engaged for 10 years?

Isn't engagement the state you are in between booking your wedding, and actually getting married?
Ie, you are engaged to be married, like plans have been engaged?
Nowadays people think engaged means you have given them an engagement ring. (which is also supposed to symbolise that wedding plans have been engaged).

  18. Nah, no point in trying fight the way of the world, I just corrected them after my "mummies got a different name" comment which I thought was genius.

Its not the first time they've mentioned us getting married. Wouldn't surprise me if its come from family since some members mentioned it fairly often too.

  19. I think it was eight years last Christmas (proposed on Christmas Day).

If you're religious it may have some sort of description as you suggest but I believe its a commitment greater than just simply dating but without the legal ties of marriage. Plus, it shut her up because she got a ring <laugh>

I went through a similar thing once when my daughter (who was 3 at the time) asked me what happened to the baby Jesus, I asked her where she got that name from and she said school, so I spoke to the school about it and asked why they are teaching christianity to my child at what is supposed to be a secular school.
They apologised. If anyone is ever going to teach my daughter about Jesus, its going to be me.
