I don't think it will last though PL, from what I've seen the game doesnt deliver in the same way as the men's game. I truly only think that the interest is because England beat Canada and will drift away again as soon as they are out.

Bah, let me have my optimism.

We really need to win the World Cup, that'll do a world of good for women's football.

Also, bare in mind the pitches are 3G and thus pretty rubbish and therefore not representative of women's football. Also another thing to bare in mind, you can see Southampton Saints play for probably about £3 at most!

Anyway, clubs around the country need to make the most of this interest while it lasts and tap into it somehow. Portsmouth Ladies included.

The important thing really is to attract women to play football. Build up interest, get more teams going, and improve fitness. This is great publicity.

I agree, it will be like when everyone has an interest in kayaking or some other random sport when the Olympics is on

Indeed. More players + more teams + football being a viable career option for females = an increase in the pool of players = an increase in the quality of the sport

The quality of passing and movement in the Japan vs Australia game was surprisingly good I thought.

I love following the strangest sports during the Olympics. Should have been watching the Baku games. GB winning a nice load of medals though.

I'm only watching woman's footy because it's on. Some days I watch the school boys football in the field behind my house, doesn't mean I think it's any good.

Harsh. The U21's deserved our support, got it & then rammed it back down our throats. The woman have quietly got on with things with little to no plan, & got to the semi's. Fantastic.
The seniors, well, they are still stuck between the naughty step & working their way back in, just need to get rid of Roy so I can open the doors.

Been working with the Non-League Paper this past week.

Had a few pieces in this weekend's (28/06/15) edition, not least an interview with Ian Saunders - manager of Petersfield Town.

What really struck me is how honest, open and welcoming most of them are. There's exceptions, but most are just so easy to work with.

Of course I wouldn't be so disrespectful as to suggest otherwise.

The Japanese ladies actually played some pretty good stuff, little one-twos and runs from deep.

School boys football is just dominated by the big/ fast kid.

Saw the beginning of the game (on repeat) as I wanted to see goals...in that first 20 mins (apart from goals) Canada looked pretty lively and nearly scored a wonderful goal with a lot of movement (shame about the finish).

What league are Petersfield in now? That's very close to my old stomping ground.

Ah, Love Lane - I had forgotten that was the name of their ground. I remember playing there a few times, many, many years ago. Next time I am that way I must take a peep and see how much it has changed.

As for the league, blimey! Sounds like they've split leagues all over the place. I'll have to look that up and work out what that is in old money. Is it two or three below the Conference?

Conference is 'Step 1', Conference North/South is 'Step 2' - then you've got Step 3 and of course, Step 4 - where Petersfield are.

Ok thanks ( think), so Step 2 would be old language "Southern (Doc Martens) League Premier, Isthmian (Diadora) League and Northern League Premier, with Step 3 being Southern League Div One? Step 4 therefore being the Old Wessex League Premier, beforer they changed that.

Step 1 - Conference Premier - (The National League, to give then new name)
Step 2 - Conference North & South - (National League North / National League South)
    Step 3 - Isthmian / Ryman
    Step 4 - Southern League
    Step 5 - Wessex League

That's what it is, as far as I'm aware.
