There is always little things a jockey could have done differently when beaten in a photo, but that's easy to say with hindsight. Had Legatissimo got up on the line and won a nose I'm sure Detorri on Diamondsandrubbies would have been thinking, could I have done something different?

That's racing though, the minor details can make a difference when 2 evenly matched horses face off, and it's easy to sit there with the benefit of hindsight and pick apart a ride move for move.

those saying she was to far back, should also remember that she came from last to first over 2 furlongs shorter in the Guineas, so I'm not buying that it was a bad ride because he didn't ride her handier

He isn't above criticism, far from it but there is a ridiculous double standard on here when it comes to Moore, he's either the best or the worst depending on who's talking from the pocket. There's no middle ground with him, no blaming the horse, no blaming the ground, no blaming other horses getting in the way he's either excellent and gets himself out of trouble in the clear and wins when no other jockey would have or he's at fault for bad positioning of the horse and a poor ride if he can't get clear and get the horse up to win

So you are pretending to know what goes on behind closed doors?

Sheikh Mo gives Bolger a free reign with his horses, as he knows how important Bolger has been to the whole Godolphin operation in recent years. And he also knows he'll get first refusal on the next star 2yo that comes along if he keeps him sweet. He even allows Bolger to pick Manning as his stable jockey, which he doesn't allow any of his other trainers to do. So I think it's highly unlikely that Sheikh Mo forces Bolger into doing anything:biggrin:

Much more sanguine Shergy than you were when discussing The Great Gatsby ride in the POW at RA.

He got boxed in. Legatissimo was never boxed in. So a completely different situation. I didn't blame Spencer either. I just said the horse was very unlucky:biggrin:

The horses run where his highness and his acolytes decide.

Bolger has stated it was sheikh mohammed who decided Dawn Approach would run at Epsom, not him.

    Thanks for the insight though.

Had Bolger been completely against it, I'm sure Dawn Approach wouldn't have run in the Derby

Watching the race I was thinking Moore had Legatissimo in a bad position off that pace but to be fair it opened up very nicely for her and he got her there with every chance in last half furlong and the winner just scraped it. Some of these Obrien fillies just keep improving and you wouldnt be too surprised if the result was the same should they meet again. Expected better from Brooch, she found nothing.
