A list of all of the kit and badges used by the club.
    Historicalkits.co.uk - Shrewsbury Town
The write up at the bottom is of interest to read.

    and just for AJ:
"The first evidence of a club crest being worn comes from 1907, which is remarkably early, and consisted of the shrewsbury coat of arms. This consisted of three leopard's head (known in heraldry as "loggerheads") above the Latin phrase, Floreat Salopia ("May Shrewsbury Flourish").
    A selection of the badges:

Interestingly the club commissioned a new badge to celebrate winning the old Third Division in 1979 so you never know it might happen again!!

That 1980 logo looks horribly gothic. I like the shrew. Forget about the loggerheads.

sorry but the shrew is not fit for purpose and the lion is orrible. bring back the 1993 badge, it stands out and has those 3 loggerheads and the all important floreat salopia. shrews will never win anything with that ruddy awfull lenny the lion badge. rowland will you be told, and do not allow gt to labour in vain with a great new squad whose efforts on the pitch will progressively be blunted by that ruddy awful badge, fs coys ctrb

Controversial. The Shrew could be adopted as a simple brand logo. Think of equally simple logos which are distinctive such as the National Trust. The loggerheads mean nothing to an outsider in relation to Shrewsbury.

sod the outsiders, it is the salopians that 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia should mean everything to. i am comfortable with the shrew as one of the brand logos, but the main badge on the kit and regalia should be as per the 1993 badge or similar. all this will not happen overnight, but if a board decision to revert to towns traditional badge by say 2016, this would give the locals a fillip, and uncle graham an enviable task of watching the turner babes race up that league to auto promo. with the shackles of that ruddy awful badge removed, town will go places. and no worries about our mascot on the pitch he can become lenny the loggerhead. come on rowland you know it makes sense, just put that decanter down, clear your mind of vintage port and think, when did i last have a success on my hands? and how soon will graham and the squad win something. rowland my dear the answer lies in the lees of that decanter in the shape of 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia.

fs, coys, aab, ctrb ROWLAND CAN YOU HEAR ME?

It is the issue with copyright over the loggerheads badge. We cannot copyright it, so it is unlikely to return purely and simply for that reason.

I can see the club's point on that. Their aim is to stop any Tom, Dick or Harry selling pirated goods by the club copyrighting their own logo which should never be the Lenny.

but that badge with 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia goes back to the medieval ages. is copyright being claimed by bill shakespeare whom. you may recall wtote henry 4th parts 1 and 2. part 2 dealt with the battle of shrewsbury.
give us our badge back rowland otherwise town will continue to stumble and will win nothing with that ruddy awful lenny the lion badge, so far 4 lean years have proved me right, i hate to dwell on the future 4 lean years. just a promise to review and replace that badge in say 5 years will work wonders

Because it has been in the public domain and has been for so long the Loggerheads badge cannot be copyrighted. I would far rather have my Blue and Amber Lenny the Lion scarf knowing that the profits go to the club. That is in preference to the hawkers who sell Blue and Amber scarves of a different variety outside the ground at every home game which may be cheaper but I cannot comment on their quality.

They could quite easily 'develop' the old loggerhead design and create a modern version of it that could be copyrighted.

how can Shrewsbury town copyright a clip art lion? Oh one that is already used by the Old Lion and Tap on Wyle cop!!

just type 'clip art lion' into any web browser and you find this:

therefore how can they copyright the logo? It would be a good thing to commision a new badge if we did get promoted as it would be a way to evolve things.

It's not a rat. It is a shrew and his name is Basil.

i am not asking for an immediate change of badge just to look at it in say 5 years time and gradually phase out lenny. the kit would look nice with the 3 l's and an fs one side and basil t'other side. if only the board would look long term then town will make some progress, and if the majority of the fans are happy with the status quo, i will shut up, but i think there may be a silent majority who long term may like a change back to tradition and town winning something. i love the shirt for this season, just a little bit missing. aj has now finished his badge campaign for now unless he is roused by what shrew etc, by the way where is everyone

Lenny the Loggerhead? Admittedly Lenny the Lion does a great job at helping to promote the club and has made numerous appearances in the Media.

We clearly use a Clip Art image which anyone can reproduce so the copyright argument is totally flawed.

The copyright argument comes into it when you combine the wording with the Loggerheads. That would not be the case, unfortunately, with clip-art Lennie.

How sad is it though that the best the club can muster, is a bloody download off t'tinternet?!

No effort whatsoever has gone into designing our badge, NONE & I for one would love to see a new badge. If we can't have the Loggerheads, then fine. But surely someone can spend a little bit of time & design something we can all be happy with...

As I said previously, I see little wrong with the Shrew design, which is 1000% improvement on Lenny.
