I hate it when people do that. It was obviously supposed to be a bit of fun. Some people take winning WAY too seriously.
There's been some discussion. Couple of years back St Godders recommended an author to me and I orders the book on the strength of that. Excellent read and there was bizarrely a book from the same guy in the Villa I rented that holiday and so I read them both that week. We should do books. I like reading three types of books: 1. Thrillers 2. Some motivational/life coaching/business books 3. Books where they have been recommended to me by someone and something has me intrigued enough to get it. My favourite ever books though are mostly from childhood: Charlottes Web - EB White Now we are Six - AA Milne Silly Verse for Kids - Spike Milligan My favourite adult books: Almost anything by Michael Connolly and particularly the Harry Bosch novels (The Poet is his best) The Road - Cormac McCarthy The Eye of the Needle - Ken Follet
Two of my favourite books are by a young Australian author called Markus Zusak - more famously, The Book Thief, but also another of his books, I Am The Messenger. Love Margaret Atwood too, particularly the Oryx and Crake series - she is just the right side of that line where it's smart writing, but doesn't fall into the trap of writing that's so desperate to show you JUST how smart it is that you stop enjoying it (for me, someone like Ian McEwan falls the wrong side of that line. As does Martin Amis).
Look on the bright side: I ordered them on Amazon where "our" account has my wife's bank card details.... I've nothing to lose I'm also one of those people who will belligerently continue through a book, even if I'm not enjoying it!
I thought some of it was brilliant, and some of it cringeworthy. I do however like the fact he has this giant ego and is upsetting the mainstream - particularly those clamouring for AC/DC or whoever. It's a contemporary arts festival, and he's one of the biggest stars in the planet. Everyone is bemoaning how safe music has become on one hand, yet castigating someone like Kanye for coming along and shaking things up and upsetting people. If you want safe, retro-rock, you have it tonight with The Who (I'm sure they'll be brilliant too), but for some reason people seem to think that should happen for all the headline slots (Florence had the same issue too, though to a lesser extent, and although I'm not a fan I thought she put on a great show).
To be truthful, I may have that wrong; I was half listening. Could easily have said 2200 feet. I'd had a couple of beers.
In other news - it's always worth reminding yourself on a Sunday just how very beautiful this song is.
Ha ha quite understand ! You were also probably still bemused by the cheating going on at a fun event - you really needed Fran their to take on the quizmaster !
So I won't tell you we are off to Mauritius in 5 weeks time for 12 night all inclusive adult only then
You can come and stay at ours for a couple of weeks and share the dust and disruption with us. I wouldn't out any sun cream on though, as the dust will stick!
Actually, the holiday before that was with my then-girlfriend shortly before we split up. Went to Dubai (meh) and I got tummy-rot from a lobster. Plus we pretty much argued the whole time. Joy!
That's a bummer On another note we have looked for marmite rice cakes in asda and tescos so far with no luck .....where do you get from fella.
