Much as I hated him as a player, one of the best football analysts is Martin Keown. Reads the game really well and actually understands who performed and who didnt. Also gives a good pre-match analysis as well.
The worst ones must be Phil Neville and Niall Quinn. Their punditry is so unbearably mundane. No real insight. As for regular commentators, the worst ones must be Clive tyldesley and Alan green. The first one is just nauseating and over the top praising of any British team. Alan Green is supposed to be an avid lfc supporter but his commentating grates even so because he is so damn conscious of his own importance and the importance of his opinions. 'Listen to my opinions as they are the objective truths ' whilst clearly they are just his opiniated views.
Him and Townsend commentating on a foul. If the other team brush past "Clear foul that Clive, don't know how the referee missed that one!" Brit team player pole axes someone from the other team "He went down a little too easily, Clive. The referee bought that one I must say." All the while the replay clearly showing they're chatting complete bollox.
