Morning from a sunny Jersey. Island Games opening ceremony tonight but the Bermuda team might not get here in time. The plane they were supposed to get from there to London was hit by a catering truck, so they had to fly to JFK then to London. They then have to get here.

Morning all, hot and sunny here with not a touch of breeze. <cool>

My daughters house move is not going smoothly. The current occupants are removing the essential kitchen items such as hobs, built in cooker and dishwasher which she was under the impression were going to be left behind for her use. Not sure if the language barrier has come into play here, or if the house owner does not know what is going on. No doubt I will find out, but a horrible feeling is coming my way, that when I said I would help move furniture it will not stop at that. Toolkit at the ready. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Grand Union Challenge completed yesterday - 50km in 7 hours 20. I am happy, NSPCC is happy but my legs are reporting my brain to the European Court of Human Rights. Lovely spot for walking though and am looking forward to doing it more regularly at a slightly less vigorous pace!

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

They should be alright. They are so deep rooted they will find moisture from somewhere. When you watch an old vineyard being replaced they have to use heavy machinery to get the old ones out. I was reading last night about some grapes that came from vines that were 100 years old and how good the wine was that came from them.

It is quite common in France for sellers to remove the kitchen. We had an unpleasant experience as we were buying a farmhouse from a french couple in whose property we were already renting a part. After signing the promesse de vent the wife insisted that they could remove a woodburning stove to sell to one of their friends. Obviously we had thought it was part of the house deal so we had not discussed specific items within the property.

We would be much more wary if we buy again in France.

Of course... in a vineyard in Holmfirth they told us it takes 10 years for a vine to produce good enough grapes for half decent wine...

Well done Dan, brilliant achievement. I love walking along the tow path, so much to see. Mrs W_Y used to train for the Moonwalk along GU from Leyton Buzzard to MK - I think I will start that again when I get back from jolidays.

    Re buying properrty in France...
It's not just kitchens - bathrooms too. Baths, basins, toilets - irrespective of the sale document. No concept of fixed items being included. Friends of ours found the wires supplying lighting in the ceilings cut off at the exit from the ceiling. Is it bloodymindedness or just a way to keep artisans busy ?

Latest report on house in France.

There is no electricity meter so it could not be read. Yes, the house is connected and there are points and lights everywhere. A hot-wired house? Seems it comes through the farm which probably means some fiddle. Now the electricity board have to come and install one which could take weeks, so until then there will be free electricity.
