Team of the year is just a popularity contest with who people think is doing well and throws up surprises. Take this years team. Does anyone really think gary cahill deserved team of the year or that he played better/is a better centre back than all of the ones in the premier league. This is the same gary cahill aho had to be dropped by mourinho for zouma cause he was having a few shockers? So 2 fingers to team of the year
So your comment was a throwaway one, it served no real purpose. Aspas scored more goals for another club It's like counting the goals Borini scored for sunderland
Dunno but im pretty sure if you are the best/2nd best defender in the league you arent getting dropped for an unknown centreback (which zouma was) especially when your club has a manager who has a history of not playing his youth players. Now answer me this do you think cahill was the 2nd best centre back or even close to it
Aspas and Deulofeu are at the same club Sevilla .... hence the comparison. One scored twice as many goals as the other one and you've just bought .... the other one.
Just read Deulofeu named in Spain's worst XI of the season. Is that worrying? I thought he sounded a decent buy.
Origi was in French worst XI but I don't think many of us were too excited with his signing anyway - plus he did score 9 goals, not too bad by our standards
No. He was named in Marca's worst XI. Marca being the Real Madrid mouth piece and as bitter as ****. They put Vermaalen in there as well, and he ripped his hamstring at the WC last summer and wasn't fit enough to make his Barca debut until the last game of the season.
Whilst Jimmy sounds harsh I agree on a lot of his points. Steve has been a colossus to our club. It is because of the Stevie G and Carra issues that I think Brendan should be given a further chance. Yes i agree that Steve had a fantastic season before last one - there is no doubt that the slip will have altered him last season, he was/is devasted. A couple of decisions though made by him during the course of last season, to me indicated it was time to move on. First there was the gripe about being benched, he clearly was upset and sulking - if we could see it, the team could see it - not the actions of a captain. The night he went onto national TV and berated Mario (think i agree with jimmy on Mario too) over the penalty. As the club captain he should not have waded into that discussion. As a pundit he had to, poor decision to put himself in that position. That night could have (although unlikely) been the catalyst for Mario's season, instead the club captain berated him nationally, not good. Gerrard then virtually single handedly cost us our final chance of CL this season after sulking about being benched again then coming on and ruining any chance we had against Utd with a very poor decision. I was not too worried about the end of season results, as a club we had backed ourselves into a must win situation against Utd, losing that game effected the rest of our season, imho. Gerrard having left the club demanded publicly to know why certain decisions had been made regarding Brendan's coaching staff. Thus drawing attension to Brendan. No problem with him wanting to know, going public I have the issue with. Saying he would have stayed had he been asked earlier? Again going public. Lets just say, Stevie G = legend BUT it was definately time to go, prob just past it tbf. Although it would have been soul destroying if he had left last season, but was the slip worse than the 6-1 defeat?
I think they were told Aspas was a reverse winger combined with a false 9 with a touch of auxiliary forward thrown in. There'll be a power point on rawk about it somewhere
Its weird that after 4 transfer windows Everton basically have the same squad as they had 2 years ago. Kenwright is great.
