One to get your hands tapping, so who was your favourite drummer? This lad is my all time favourite.. Corky Laing (Mountain).. Enjoy..
Good lads there mate, Moon was just brilliant but one of the best drummers is in the vid Mitch Mitchell, Hendrix drummer, off beats without a thought, purely natural..
Still Bonham for me, but Topper was a better all-rounder. His reggae drumming on White Man in the Hammersmith Palais was ace. As was Ringo Starr's on A Day in the Life.
Nick Mason! Very underrated due to his subtle orchestral style. I can't seem to add the video but if I could it would be live at Pompeii, there's one section of the long instrumental in the middle of echoes where he's the focus of the camera and it's quite simply sublime to watch it's heavier than the original he draws you in with every beat and then as if all of a sudden...there's the drop back into the backround and the twin vocals come in. Magic
Yeah he does a lot of teaching, there's loads of vids out there of some of his lessons. Can't believe you've met somebody who Drummed with the Funkadelic. Jammy sod. Nice one Diddles. Did you know he was offered to join The James Brown band but had to turn it down as his mother wouldn't let him tour as he was only 13?
I used to have a drum shop in London so I got involved with a few drum clinics, I've met quite a few renowned drummers, probably the most 'famous' (my idol) Buddy Rich I met him when I was a kid at Southend's Cliffs Pavilion I got to his concert 3 hours early as I was so excited - he was on the bar veranda having a drink with his Orchestra
this clip contains one the best solos that I've seen and had the pleasure to witness live a good few times - mesmerising THE MASTER at work ...
