6th...and to put a spanner in the works of articles such as this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33268431
Yes, I read the headline of that article and thought, Typical Phil McNulty. He is amongst the most dyed-in-the-wool of traditional football journalists. He couldn't imagine Saints breaking through any barriers if his life depended upon it. Well let's really break the barriers and finish above Liverpool and Spurs. We were one positive result away from doing it this season. Let's go that one result better.
Here is a related question, would you take a 17th place finish in the PL now, for a guaranteed spot in the semi finals of the Europa? (no clue on the outcome or opponent of that game, could make the final, or could lose the semi)
We have been to football what Moore's Law is to electronics, so we will finish 5th and have a good cup one (semi-fianl at least) in at least one out of the three cups we're in - oh and our players will half in height...
I think we are going to be surprised at how much better some other teams are next season. Everton and West Ham to name two. Our fixtures look quite kind however, so if we can build some momentum a top ten finish may still be possible.
5th, and will do spectacularly well in the Europa. I stuck a few quid on at 25\1 to win the Europa, and why not, bloody Fulham got to the final and they weren't even a good side.
