He obviously is surplus, another rejectico like Di Maria. £30m for old man Ramos: Rafa's rejectico. They get Ronaldo, you get Ramos and Disaster for the same price. Wonder how many times dirty Ramos will get red carded.
I am not sure Ramos is the answer to our problems. We need a solid reliable experienced defender for sure. But do we want a 29 year old who would take ages to settle here? I think we should go for one of the proven defenders in here. And at much more than 30m United will taking a massive gamble. Not financially but in terms of disruption to the team and the squad.
Seriously underwhelmed... If anyone honestly thinks this fella please log in to view this image is anything more than "barely competent" at his job you really are kidding yourself.
No idea why you post a picture of Woodward in a discussion about Sergio Ramos. And if you consider Ramos an underwhelming signing, you seriously need a word with yourself. As both a player and a statement, hes right up there.
Hate to break it to you but Woodward is in charge of all our signings. It's not Ramos I have a problem with (although I really dont rate him as highly as some do on here as I question whether the prem will suit him). Ramos is not the problem. No. What I find amazing is another transfer window and yet once again we seem to be flying blind again. We were the ONE club ALL season that was identified by everyone (including Woodward and LVG) as requiring strengthening in key positions. Call it high expectations on my part but I thought our preparation may have involved identifying specific targets, doing some homework, and having our names lined up to go. Instead once again it's another reactionary ad-hoc approach by a barely competent baffoon who seems to waft like a fart towards the next "big name" depending on which way the wind seems to be blowing that particular month. Do you honestly think any of this ****e about Ramos (or any of our so-called targets ) are planned in any way shape or form as part of some transfer strategy for this summer?
So basically, and based purely on some unsubstantiated rumours from every man and his dog.... We dont have a clue what we are doing? Or Woodward doesnt at least. Any chance this is because Liverpool have signed a few players so suddenly they have the market sussed while United scratch their heads?
Who cares who Liverpool have signed. I'm just seeing the way things are unfolding and how similar it all seems to be to the last two summers. I'll reserve judgement until next week or two, but I'm not holding out much hope of anything remotely near what was expected.
You worry to much, None of the Liverpool signing are what UTD were after, it was just paper or Agent talk to inflate the price
I honestly could not care less about Liverpool's signings. Nor could I care less about Arsenal or Chelsea's signings tomorrow. But what it does show is that had United had a strategy, we'd have some activity going on. The only answer is that there has been little or no build up or preparation done. Woodward fills me with no confidence whatsoever tbh. His answer to most things is throwing money at it. Hardly a great skill imo.
Theres 7 weeks until the season starts, 10/11 weeks until the window ends. Of the english clubs, weve made the best signing and most highly sought after (in terms of potential). Things are starting to happen though, something is clearly going on with Ramos for starters. A player who will add quite a bit to our defence as well as bring a great amount of leadership to the side.
Have some activity going on... Like erm, one player already signed and another looking likelier by the day? The first being one of the worlds hottest properties and the other being a mainstay at one of the worlds biggest clubs...
I repeat, does any of this seem like part of a planned strategy? If you want to understand what I mean, look at 1st and 2nd July 2007 summer transfer window...and the months of build up to those signings. Everything about last season should have led to something similar now. The fact that one minute it's Otamendi, then Pogba, next Shweinsteiger, then Ramos, now Schneiderlin suggests Woodward is a clueless moron who s like a 10 year old with his dad's credit card let loose in Toys R Us.
Plans are great but what if the players club doesnt want to sell. What if said club wants to get a replacement first (as Liverpool have done before they sell sterling)? I am pretty certain Woodward doesnt spin a wheel each morning in order to select out next target. More like between himself and van gaal, targets were chosen months ago, secondard targets too.
Fair enough UIR. I was expecting us to be moving quickly with some prepped half done deals but you're not wrong either.
