I liked Clyne for his skill, but I never invested affection in him as I have with other players, perhaps because I know little about him. It's more like he appeared and did a job for us.

I just hope Villa or Newcastle have sorted their **** out in a few years or so, as that's all those ex-Saints' next domestic stepping stone if they don't make it at Liverpool. Would be fairly funny if none of them play another second of CL football in their career - while we get a shot at it, of course.

It just proves that it's all hot air, and he's chasing the money. Liverpool are nowhere near champions league football. He would be better staying with us and waiting for a genuine top four team to come in for him

Whilst I appreciate that Liverpool are a bigger club than saints, I still think this is a strange move. I totally understand Clyne going for Champions League Football, but to a club that has gone backwards in the last season with the managers job far from being secure?

If I was Clyne I would have seen if I could get a one year extension at Saints. I can see he might not fancy being tied for 3 years and possibly refused a move (a la Morgan) but he is going to miss a great time at Saints and a possibly even better move at the end of it.

Happy with 12.5M for a player with one year left on his contract; more than covers the two purchases so far and we have not traded down on the RB position; not forgetting he wanted an exit. Adds to the 'kitty' to pay for Toby... still hoping.

Good luck to him. Good deal for both clubs. Remains to be seen whether it's a mistake or not for Clyne.

I think the one most immediately at risk is Shaw. If he doesn't get it together this season, he could find himself on loan at somewhere crap, like Stoke.

lt really does not matter to us going forwards, recent history suggests it may be a problem for him, but compared to Johnson, its not hard for him to do a better job.

Haha. So true. My concern for him is that Brendan is starting to develop a poor reputation as a coach ( though he does seem to have the backing of the players). As you say, we move on - hopefully to bigger and better things.

Players are fickle....they back you while you are manager, but happily move on to the next man when you are sacked.

I agree and to add to your comment l am really starting to dislike his arrogance as a manager. Many football fans moan about Sir Alex and 'The Special One'; but they have actually achieved so much and Rogers has achieved so little. Compare him to Bob Paisley who achieved so much with so much humility.
