The value of Buckingham Palace alone would make up whatever alleged benefits the Royals bring to this country. Get them sacked now and sell off Buck House, Sandringham, Balmoral etc. to the Arabs. That would be a massive step to paying off the national debt.
Actually you've just created an argument for keeping the royals. They're the only Brits who can afford London property prices. Without them and the Duke of Westminster the ay-rabs n russkies will soon own every inch of it.
The need for a Royal family died out during the Tudor times; we have not had a truly great monarch since Elizabeth I. I am a huge fan of the pomp and ceremony, and I've made a decent living from writing and teaching about the Royals of the United Kingdom and other countries, but they are now little more than an overpaid charade of power and worth. Once Liz II expires, the family will crumble.
I certainly hope so. They're like an expensive version of Eastenders. I like Royal Ascot but once the Irish and Arabs take more of a hold of British racing I am sure they'll do a nice job of the pre race entertainment.

We had a chance to take a step towards de-leaching ourselves in last year's referendum. We could be well on our way to creating our very own Presbyterian, socialist utopian Republic. Unfortunately some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to give a vote to all the royalty arse licking Nigels and eastern European big issue sellers who happen to reside in Scotland. We won't make that mistake next time.
