They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, Than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official
    estimates:

    - 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia

    - 18-times as much oil as Iraq

    - 21-times as much oil as Kuwait

    - 22-times as much oil as Iran

Well that didnt take long ...............from the Independant today:

"At the same time, his Conservative colleague Michael Fallon announced new support for shale gas – promising tax breaks for exploration, simpler planning rules and new incentives for communities to back “fracking” wells in their areas.

Under the plans drawn up with the industry, communities will receive at least £100,000 for each well where fracking takes place to explore for shale gas and 1 per cent of revenues if the drilling proves to be commercially viable."

But you didnt include the paragraph at the end ******
According to news accounts, although new drilling techniques have greatly increased oil production in Bakken formation in recent years, as of February 2011 that region was still yielding less than half a million barrels per day.

I can tell you that France is light years ahead on green energy
I live in a national park so no turbines
But all around the perimeter there are thousands . My electricity is produced all by hydro as it most of the villages

Please stop calling me a ****** there's a good man.

The point I was making was that it was there and that the US is sitting on it.

Technology advances at a rapid rate and they will soon be able to get at it.

There is little chance of mankind running out of energy
    Mother Earth will always give
    It's a load of cobblers
Fear is once again dished out to the sheep of the UK
Energy sources will always be found and the tech is there
This is about making money pure and simple ... Justifying a price
My neighbours in France have free energy and I will do the same long run I pay 5% of what I pay in London for the same product so it's that easy
The shop of sheep in the UK panic about nothing worry about everything and do nothing about anything

Pay up because you don't really care
what powers your Netflix or sky sports

Absolutely correct, hydro is the way it will go and will be going in the uk, I kinda work in the industry and strong indications are hydro is what is being looked at as a long term solution and being implemented, there is a hydro power station in North Wales, but mostly used as back up

Yes and doesn't need to be a river! … The French hydro system around our area just run massive pipes down the sides of hills beautifully hidden that then run village turbines. At one place they pump the bloody water up the hill from a river using a wind turbine before shooting the water downhill at extreme velocity to run more turbines to make power. The only problem is that they want everyone to go over to electric power and ban log burning in the short winter … The local won't stand for that so i expect on or two residents to dynamite a few turbines in the coming years. They have threatened the power companies
I love the way people stand up against big business or government in France … its very simple the government works for the people and we want freedom to choose if we want to buy any product from a company … In the UK you have little choice and whats more you don't really care because you buy everything in.

Imagine if the there was a power shortage in the UK? The grids are overloaded as they are!. There would be a riot at telcos for torches andCandles
Last fe months I heard that there was a water shortage near my old home in East Sussex and there was big trouble

Wise up the UK is on a knife edge … I also challenge this if the power goes out try asking anyone under 25 to fix it or cope with it … the iPhones would quickly run out with solar and car chargers being required. I also doubt if only a very few are even prepared if the power fails in the UK. We need water and power but most of the youth need weed and cider. The good old British help out thy neighbour will be rare count my words

With the way the grid is connected, especially to Europe (however that's mostly to do with the trade of power, more than shortage) there really shouldn't be a problem with regards to power outages or other related issues, it's mostly just media hype. Although the odd blackout has happened (very rare) the fines levied at the transporter is potentially crippling. The water issue I can't comment on, however your probably right about helping thy neighbour :(

I wouldn't go on too much about France because My mate says they are always having power cuts and the electrics there are like third World. He also says they have loads of strikes at a drop of a hat and not to get him on 'banking' and all the anal time, paper work, employing about 10 people to get a letter to you. Loves it there but says they are so slow and anal.
    That's what he say anyway.

It takes 4 separate people to change currency in Japan. One to show you where the form to fill in is, one to show you the two yards to the teller's window, the teller to check the form and pass it to the the person in the back who counts the money and hands it to the teller who gives it to you. Then the first two bow as you leave. All of which can be achieved by a school leaver in half the time in Thomas Cook's. But then again, this is the de facto Japanese welfare system.
