Initial fee is £22m with add ons. For one of the best performing players across major leagues over past 2 years, I'd say it;s a cracking deal, similar to Torres and Suarez. 13/14 season was his breakthrough season which was immense. Last season wasn't as good but still incredible - brilliant on and off the ball but is an incredibly hard worker as well. Not many attackers can match his defensive stats.

This looks like my prediction and fear about overpaying because of Sterling windfall is coming true. I hope I will be proved wrong but this guy was being touted for £15-18m. Then we come along and we pay £25m rising to £29m. This sounds very familiar??. If we didn't have the prospect of the Sterling millions, would they have asked for so much for him? It is not as if there was a scramble amongst the top clubs for him. He could be make or break for Rodgers. If he fails Rodgers will be out of the door by December.
