I thought that it was about time to settle it once and for all. What is the best Saints team of all time?
We'll start with the Goalie and after a few days I will post a poll for the next position.

Kelvin for me - never really saw Niemi, and Forster hasn't quite been here long enough yet for me.

Yes, Niemi, but I wish Campbell Forsyth had had more of a chance to show his skills in the top flight.

Niemi for me too. His triple save against Arsenal spring immediately to mind.

Niemi for me. FWIW, I'd have put Paul Jones in the list before Beasant or Katalinic.

For me, it has to be between Niemi, Forster and Kelv as I didn't see the others. Niemi for me.

Niemi all day long. What a keeper - during times when we often really needed one!

Has to be Shilton but Tim Flowers was a personal fave.

Peter Shilton, Cambell Forsyth not on the list.. didn't play long due to injury but was a mighty fine keep.

Niemi will get most votes simply because he was the stand out keeper in recent times. But Shilts was a different level altogether.

One thing both did. They had the good sense never to throw themselves at shots they knew would be impossible to get to. :)

Going by my age then it has to be Niemi if we're saying 'the best' - My favourite would be Super Kelv!

I believe he is the only unbeaten keeper in the history of Southampton Football Club.

Minutes played 10, Goals conceded zero, that means he concedes zero goals every 10 minutes, quite an impressive stat.

Yeah, any vote of this type will be skewed by age of participant. Still, Niemi for me, despite his latter day foolishness in associating with that other lot!

Foolishness? Didn't he end rinsing a stupid amount of money from them when they needed every penny they could get?
