The dude from St Pauli has played 2 games in the last two seasons. Vossen never played 90 mins once last season for Boro. Djuric scored 3 goals last season. You'd have to think none of these players fit the profile for a decent signing.
The issue is Celtic won't spend cash and will have to pick potential rather than proven ...potential being that they turn it around when they get to Celtic We've wasted so much cash recently that lawwell will not spend I'd rather they bought somebody like Michu
There are literally thousands of players available at the prices Celtic are looking to spend. No need to be buying duds or guys with a history of injury. Two first-team games in two years the Left-Back has played. I'd rather we just gave Tierney a chance than spunked more money on another "project" More hope of us signing Michaelangelo than Michu FFS. Swansea want £5m for a 29 year old whose wages are way above our budget.
The main problem is settling for the 4th or 5th name on a list of targets rather than waiting for the right player. The #1 target at LB was the boy Dijks who signed for Ajax, if that's the case then you don't just move down the list until someone says yes. It's a barrel scraping transfer policy which has been masked by the successful sales of Hooper, Forster, Ki & Wanyama.
Aye, "Moneyball" like **** it is. It's more like transfer window bingo. In all fairness I'd like to see what Deila does this window as the board ****ed him over last summer with a plethora of loan signings. For LB sign Barry Douglas and sign Souttar from Utd. **** knows who to buy as a striker, mibbe Moyes will loan us Finnbogason. He hardly kicked a ball for Sociedad last season.
Good, because the boy is class. I'd rather we gave Utd £2m for Souttar than signed some guy you've never heard of in his mid-20's who has played less first-team games in the last couple of years than a Scottish 17 year old.
Conveniently forgetting the fact Celtic have Van Dijk, Boyata, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Lustig, O'Connell who can all play at CB.
I see some people think Celtic won't spend the cash, surely no Celtic fan expects Celtic to spend cash that they don't have. Every club in the EPL and the SPL have purchased many players who haven't reach the standards that the club hoped they would . why should anyone expect Celtic to be different. I think we probably need another striker , but i won't lose any sleep if we don't sign one. I am happy for Celtic to develop and introduce some of the many exciting youth players, if we don't bring them through they will go the way of previous young starlets and disappear off to other clubs on frees.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33261699 In my opinion, not needed as midfield is our strongest area of the squad with Broony, Johansen, Biton , Armstrong and GMS yer midfield 5 with the likes of commons, forrest, henderson and mcgregor vying for a start.
You are right pud, I think we don't have any glaring weaknesses in our squad at the moment and we don't have to buy for the sake of bringing payers in.
Need a left back and striker simply to offer competition to the position, otherwise develop youth players
