A whole module! Wow! Love the way some people always bring in the word pedant when they have been shown to be incorrect.
Yes, because there's nothing pedantic about having a massive go at someone's English capabilities because they missed one solitary comma. How dare they!
Once upon a time schools insisted on correct English before dishing out high grades. University places were very hard to come by until they reclassified polytechnics and proper subjects were studied. Correct use of English used to be a prerequisite for people working in the media, especially journalism, now it is an optional extra and anyone pointing out the errors of those who are happy to point out the errors of others are pedants.
To be honest I don't think £20 is too bad, most people complaining about it have no intention of going and are just moaning for the sake of it.
I have difficulty with neither. You seem to have a problem with responding without errors though, but I'm not as much of a pompous prick as you are to point it out. I'd love a battle of wits with you on this forum, but my mam taught me to not bully those less fortunate or unequipped to fight, so, carry on making yourself look like a prick, my work with you is done.
Well he was being pedantic, incredibly so. The fact that he felt it necessary to go to an online dictionary and look up a word he knew full well isn't an actual word used in everyday mainstream English language just to prove me wrong (when really he didn't, which is whats funnier), suggests a little bit of pedantry. I'd consider my English language ability to be far above most average people, as it should be after spending five years at uni, but I'm hardly likely to cry buckets if I make a grammatical error on a football forum. I do most of my typing on my phone and it's a pretty **** phone, so sometimes mistakes creep in.
can the mods please get hold of this thread and close it for being hijacked by the English grammer Nazis having a biggest cock contest (which by the way you are both big cocks so its a draw) as it is really really dull
Ac Actually, Quill, I was pointing out to someone criticising someone else's English that they were not perfect themselves. Or, put another way, I didn't start it, miss. You should be grateful for these threads as they fill in your missing gaps. Unless you think a career in journalism doesn't require a decent knowledge of English.
Phones make grammatical errors? I am guilty of typos on my smartphone but one which can decide to alter your correct grammar to incorrect grammar takes smart to a whole new level.
