This is a new one on me but on a free it would appear to fit Mike's profile.
The wages will be an issue but things like that can be offset with signing on and loyalty payments.

    http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/06/2...sue-yevhen-konoplyanka-player-arriving-in-en/

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka this summer.
New manager Steve McClaren is looking for new signings, with the Magpies in desperate need of reinforcements after a dismal Premier League campaign.
Adding another attacking force should be on McClaren's wish list, and the Daily Mirror believe that Ukrainian international Konoplyanka is one of his top targets.
Konoplyanka, 25, is out of contract this summer, meaning he can leave Dnipro on a free transfer - and, unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of interest in his signature.
The Mirror also suggest that Konoplyanka is due to arrive in England this week[/a] for talks with interested clubs over potential deals, which could now include Newcastle United.
    Just what Newcastle need?
Last season, Newcastle struggled and were almost relegated to the Championship. That can't happen again under McClaren, and he will be looking for attacking firepower to revitalise the Magpies.
Konoplyanka is primarily a left winger who loves to cut inside onto his right foot and shoot from distance, whilst he also possesses pace and creativity - all attributes which could change the Newcastle side.
The alleged wage demands are excessive, and Newcastle will be hoping to lower those to strike a deal - and if they can, Konoplyanka could be a star.

Have just watched a few videos on Kono. If it's good enough for Dennis...

    Sign him.

He reminds me of an upgrade on Bob the Frog (Robert) and Kanchelskis combined. Give him a bigger signing on fee and that would lower the weekly wage.

    He looks absolute class.

100k per week for an out of contract player is like a signing for 7.5 mill and wages of 50k for 3years. Actually not unreasonable in PL terms as long as doesn't cause problems with other players

This "fits mikes profile" part? i'm not sure where people get this "we always sign free transfers" as we very rarely do.

Since Jan 2011 we have only signed the following first teamers on free's

    Jan 11 - Shefki Kuqi
    June 11 - Demba Ba
    June 14 - Jack Colback

The profile being an asset which is certain to rise in value (which is the club's stated transfer policy.. i.e. buy low sell high).

Anyone on a free of his standard will immediately command a sell on fee once with a club.
As would a player like Yohan who was undervalued upon purchase but we made a mint on.

We rarely sign anyone, full stop (or period, for our colonial cousins on the board)..as our defence of 2 crocks, a bag of spuds and an asda barbeque proved last season (all signed for the LB position)

That said, just the sort of player I love..be fantastic if he ended up with us...just can't see us paying his wage demands (however that was reached via signing on bonus's or whatever)

If we get him more or less on a free then we can afford to pay a higher wage. About time we stopped messing about.

I'd be very surprised if you lot pulled this one off.

It appears by the sheer volume of links going through you, that every agent under the sun is using your team as bait for other teams to bite.

I've just watched the typical youtube clips. He looks good, but being honest, any fat 5-a-side playing sloth could compose a highlights real of "best bits" that made him look like Messi, so i take that with a pinch of salt. There's a reason nobody's heard of him.

Not the fastest, and though he looks alright against awful Ukranian players, guaranteed he wouldn't get the time or space to do his Robben impression of cutting inside all the time. If I were in charge, I wouldn't sanction £100K a week on a player like him, even as a free transfer.

Quick google search shows all the better clubs interested in him anyway!

Yeah, let's piss off the half decent players we have by paying some freebie ****er £100k a week.
Just what we need to foster Team Spirit, pay a mercenary a princely sum like that and watch him burn in the PL.

    No chance.

Sound reasoning, I 2nd this. Although whenever I look at his name I think "plonker", so we could just call him Rodney or Rodders?

This guy is a very good player. Sevilla have pulled out of signing him, but I would still be surprised to see him turn up here.
