Yes. Young, already a good player but potential to become world class. One of the best performing players across major leagues over past 2 seasons. Far better chance of his value increasing compared to Lallana who is already in his prime and isn't that good. Smarter business would have been to have signed him last instead of Lallana.
Yeah. I don't want to put a downer on things but it seems we rarely get a great deal and it always feels like we pay absolute top amount they could go for.
Had Firmino in my FFT team all season, he scored me a lot of points Never seen him play league football, only seen him for Brazil where he didn`t look anything special but then nobody did with the possible exception of Coutinho.
I guess so. But why isn't he getting interest from other clubs? At that value you would expect him to be hot property - but he isn't.
Probably because he's only just made the national team and plays for Hoffenheim. The big clubs will sign him when he's around 26 and hitting his prime.
I have a feeling scouts look at players before they get a national call up, it helps to beat the crowd and is usually cheaper.
We've got to be realistic. We would have had no hope of signing him if any if the big clubs competed for his signature. So let's hope we managed to spot a top player no one else had.
Chelsea didn't with Oscar or Hazard, United with De Gear or Ronaldo. If they're quality and young they are generally bought. Maybe he can be a success like Suarez. Who knows. Has to be at £29 Imagine if he flops and join the incredibly long list of expensive flops.
Agreed - but we're signing him before his peak. He won't have too many big admirers just yet - I suspect he will leave in 3 years time because I'm confident he will become world class.
And Liverpool were the ones who signed him? Not sure what you're getting at - you're implying that no big clubs wanted Firmino so you question his ability.
I wouldn't worry too much about that. I mean Coutinho only had Southampton as his other option. Don't think many wanted Sturridge either. All I can say is I'm really looking forward to see what type of player he is and how good he is. Its an exciting transfer for us and I think just the sort of thing we needed to lift the morale in the fan base.
