For me, in the mid/late-Sixties, Saturday started with a walk into town. Gough and Davy's and Sydney Scarborough's Bluebell for a lunch-time pint/or 3; KD (Kardomah); then Stardisc; Hammonds top-floor for records and Pic-a-dish.
It was probably a spelling mistake - too much of a coincidence to have an Endike and Endyke on the same road.
In which case that was my Granddads shop then my nana took over and sold her wool shop across the road when he died. I was only really little and only have vague memories of the shop
I hope you weren't offended - I meant that Moore was the more usual spelling. There was a kid in our school called Mower.
One of my relatives worked in there for years. My best memory was of the Matchbox car display in the window. A bit like this one. I counted the cars that I had on this picture and got to 32!
Remember going round the back and getting hot cakes very early about 5 or 6ish as a kid. Is my memory going or did they put jam or cream in them as well as butter?
