You want to look out for the French No 3 then Kish especially at the end of the game when she is all sweaty
The England winner wasn't even that good, yet again the keepers failure to move their legs early meant there was no way they'd save it. I've said it before but the real embarrassment in women's football is the keepers....and the fact that they're not making a sandwich
I know a couple of ardent feminists (I use that term loosely because they resemble more of the Spice Girls "girl power" than the suffragette movement) whom I sit close to that'll bite your head off for a remark like that. They argue that they come for the love of the club and sport, despite spending a lot of time commenting about Hamers derriere. I said that's a contradictory statement, but the word "contradictory" seemed to go over their heads!
Not everything is different from the men's game. Germany got through to the semi's in a penalty shoot-out.
Germany also took advantage of a rather pro German ref. A clear first half pen for France was not given and a very dubious penalty for Germany was given.
I watched a women's match once, Charlton v Fulham in some cup final but gave up after 20 minutes. I thought I would give it another go tonight (England v Canada). The standard is dire. I would say about the same as a local boys' league u-15 game. There is no physical reason why women should not be able to equal men in ball control and short passing, but these aspects were the most deficient. The heading, throw-ins, and dead-ball kicking, for which physical strength is needed, were surprisingly competent. The goalkeepers are clueless. All credit to the girls if they enjoy playing. but as a spectator sport, no thanks.
Had to laugh yesterday morning to hear little Sampson claiming that the wimmins achievement was "up there with 1966" Yes. Really. (Although quite a few in his team resemble Nobby Styles...)
Has Mr Sampson forgotten about Italia '90 where England also got a World Cup Semi ? Our problem in that Tournament was that we had Gareth Southgate taking a penalty against a german goalkeeper
I'm taping it! I'm working from home tomorrow so I'll watch it over breakfast whilst avoiding social media (and work)
Watched the game last night as I was literally (well, maybe not literally) dying from the heat and hay fever - but I couldn't help think how patronising the coverage was. They're women, not 7 year olds. Twitter was even worse, especially Stan collymoore.
. Gutted for the ladies. A fine performance. SuperC: I've always found Loratadine in its purest form to be the most effective hay fever remedy. Ask a decent chemist if they stock a non-brand tablet.
I was going to watch this, but it was just too late at night, after a long hot day. Gutted for the ladies, business as usual for English football.
Why do people always complain about the heat at home and yet for their holidays (Ponders excepted) always go somewhere hot?
I keep my extremities (well, not all of them) nice and cool by dipping them into bowls of water. Bowls on and under the desk will stop the body heat from boiling over. A ****-off big fan works wonders, too.
