I remember ol Auminium, core blimey we went through some suspect keepers. Cech will be a return to a top quality keeper of Seaman levels. Now we won't have to worry about dodgy clearances by Cheesy, though he has improved in that regard.
What encouraged me about this was our goalkeeping coach leaving a week back. Without wishing to be mean our keeping errors over the last 10 years have been almost identical, regardless who was in nets so at some point you've got to look at how they're being trained. Cech is not only a class act but is bringing his own coach with him be it to us or whoever...though I'd be mighty shocked if it wasn't us.
I was wishing the same thing and it appears that real change is happening in an area we've had issues with for a long time. Hopefully we get the Chelsea keeping coach or another well established one to fix some of Chesney's problems.
Still amazed that Mourinho/Abramovich has allowed this to happen.. the one area you've struggled with for the last 6/7 years and he's just handed you one of the best keepers in the league, with 4/5 years left in him for £10m. Could really come back to haunt him if you guys can get a top CB & CF and have a real crack at the title (just hide calendars around Jan/Feb time so your players don't do the usual Winter collapse though )
I think they gave Cech their word that he could leave and join the club of his choice thinking he would go abroad to PSG or Monaco. Now that he's chosen Chelsea's main rivals, they can't really be seen to go back on their word, it would seem.
Sky sports are reporting that a £10.9m deal has been agreed between the two clubs http://www1.skysports.com/football/...9m-fee-for-chelseas-petr-cech-sky-sources-say
True but the fact he said he was settled in London should have given some kind of hint. Unless they had it written somewhere that any offer matching Xm would be sufficient then could always have gone back on their word.. Mourinho is hardly known for his sentimental side.
I agree, it's an odd one. I wouldn't have thought in a million years that Maureen would sell one of his best players to us. But it looks like it's happening and at the end of the day, as long as he comes, who really gives a **** what goes on in the Special case's head ?
http://arseblog.com/2015/06/time-for-me-to-cech-in-again/ I found this blog interesting (after you get past the barca holiday snaps). It mirrors a vague worry ive had in the back of my mind since the cech rumour surfaced. The majority of ny mind is doing cartwheels at the thought of having imo the greatest prem keeper since schemichael in our team. Giving us a model professional and a great talent in a position weve been weak in since seaman. But that one part of my mind thinks 'what if ..' after a season sat on the bench, and his injuries if hes still as good as he once was? If he is still awesome then why is mourinho letting him come to us? Is the deal actually going to go through, or are chelsea just yanking our chain just like with Ba? Will Cech have 4-5 years left after his head injuries? Its probably very silly and ill wake up next week and we will have completed 1 of the best signings of the last decade.
I don't know if you are stupid or just deliberately misunderstanding what was said to score points. He claimed cech was a far better keeper than seaman ever was. A better keeper okay that's debatable a far better keeper that's just a post with intent to wum. I didn't think it needed breaking down on a footbal forum with "adults"
I really think you're reading too much into it. For me, Cech is the best goalkeeper in the Prem era and one of the best goalkeepers in England ever. Seaman was decent, again just an opinion of mine, but never close to Cech's best or even Cech now. Just an opinion. We all have them.
