Recently I have not been in agreement with anything the club seems to do, but I must say the release of the aforementioned players has my approval.
I haven't watched the youngsters a lot but the 4 or 5 games I did watch on TV Sambou looked a quality player with great potential, plus he played in a very specialist position which we very much lack at the moment, I can only assume he did not step up to the u21's well!!
Grant played in out of position Cookie - behind the striker(s). His passing wasn't brilliant at the best of times. However, Sol was very good when playing central midfield defender, winning the ball and being able to offload to Hyndman and/or Roberts (who were always instinctively looking for the ball). My belief is that he's a loss and another example of our youngsters being mis-managed.
Renewed speculation that Everton are closing in on Moussa Dembele. please log in to view this image This followed an “interview” he had with SkySport. Not sure of the format but whatever, they quoted him as saying; “I am very flattered with the interest from top level clubs. I always want to improve, but I love Fulham and have respect for them. I don’t know (if staying at Fulham is the best thing for me). I will take my time to make the right choice. I feel very good at Fulham, I know everyone. I want to take the time with my family and agent and people around me to take the right choice.” Source: https://www.everton-news.co.uk/news/transfer-rumours/fulham-whizzkid-open-to-blues-move/
Exactly what we need .. Clubs fighting it out to sign Kostas Mitroglou. please log in to view this image "Udinese and Sassuolo are tussling with Fenerbahce for Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglou. Sport Mediaset suggest there is a bidding war going on between the three clubs for the Greek international. The 27-year-old spent this season on loan at Olympiacos, where he scored 19 goals in 34 competitive matches. He’ll return to Fulham next month, but seems eager to move on again. In Serie A there is interest from both Udinese and Sassuolo, while Turkish side Fenerbahce are seemingly prepared to offer wages worth €2m per season.”
Kostas Mitroglou; Having played only a few games for us due to injury and now having played 34 games last season scoring 19 goals, why don't we want him? I was very excited when he came to us and would like to see him playing with Ross and Smith. If no good come January, then sell on. I'm braced waiting for the outburst in response.
No outburst from me, whitestripes. I think the fact he isn't keen to play in the Championship is the best reason for selling him. I'm not sure he'd throw himself into the challenge, and all we would achieve is a slow steady erosion of his market value, either selling him for less than we would get now or even having him miserably see out his contract and eventually leaving for nothing. Best to cut our losses and invest the fee elsewhere. It's a shame - I was excited at the prospect when we signed him, but sometimes you just have to accept things haven't worked out and move on.
Captain, I think you are likely to be right but we managed to motivate Bryan and he saw this as having an opportunity to be in on display or get us in the EPL where he wanted to play. Kostas is a pretty big guy and I think he would excel in the Championship but as you say, only if his head is right. This attitude perception we have wouldn't work in the real world outside of football!
Joining the queue for Kostas Mitroglou are Besitkas. According to Turkish papers they are about to sell Demba Ba and want our Kostas as a replacement. They've been linked with him before so who knows ...? With all this interest his Agent is obviously working hard and it seems a fair bet he's on his way. Good I say. Poor signing in the first place - I'll never forget him waddling around the pitch dressed in mufti the day Fulham introduced him (along with Tunnicliffe and Cole) to fans and thinking how less like an athlete he looked.
http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fulham-dig-heels-over-manchester-9500953 If this article is correct then I have no idea what we're playing at here - $5k a week is a lowball offer, we should be improving on it - I'd say £10k a week top limit would be fair given our position and Roberts' potential.
Reports coming in that Stekelenberg has signed for Southampton, no news of fee yet but would be good to get a couple of million for him plus dropping his wages
I was just about to post something similar. I think it might actually be another loan deal, but I'm sure he's out of contract next summer? So if that's the case we're now basically losing him for nothing, except for any loan fee we may get.
To answer my own question, having looked into it, looks like Stek is contracted with us until summer 2017, so would come back with another year left on his contract, if in fact it is a loan deal to Southampton.
please log in to view this image Guess his injury record is why we have been unable to sell him. Another one of Jol's little gems of 2013 come back to bite us.
I wouldn't be surprised if his contract is terminated by mutual consent next summer. I suspect he's another player who broke our wage structure (as was) when we brought him in.
To be honest if Monaco and now Southampton are paying his wages in fill and giving us a small loan fee let's loan him out again next season
According to Spanish papers Atletico Madrid have contacted us about Nando please log in to view this image Let's hope we get some money this time!!
Athletico have just got £10 million pound for Manzuckic so we should be able to hold out for a couple of million if they are interested
According to the local paper his move to Southampton will save us £1.2m in wages. Source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...lham-save-themselves-12million-keeper-9512248 Always difficult to tell with these things but if you Google his wages, all the references suggest that's 100% they're paying. A loan fee on top is kind of 'icing on the cake' , therefore
