I can't disagree with that, we do however remain the only English side to qualify for this competition (in its current guise) in successive seasons via league position. Which illustrates my point about the possibility of Europa League football impacting on West Ham next season.
I think they'll find it tough to be honest. But I do wonder if Spurs would be better off not being in the Europa at all and just concentrating on the league ?
Personally, I think Arsenal will be better off not being in the CL in order to concentrate on the Prem. Luckily for Arsenal, that is will inevitably happen.
It may be true that without CL football we could win the league, as without Europey football Spurs might finish in the top 4. But the difference is, that without CL football, we wouldn't be able to attract the likes of Ozil and Sanchez who could win us the league, so it's better for us to compete on both main stages. Whereas for Spurs, you might just be better off concentrating on the league.
Again I can't disagree - The last time we weren't in Europe we did finish 4th, though we have also managed a 4th place whilst being in Europe. For those of us who struggle to attend at the weekends at least Europa league allows us to get to a few more matches and European nights remain special. Then there's the stick that you gooners will dish out if we do miss out on Europe by finishing outside the top 7! So whilst I will dream of Champions league I will happily take Europa league as proof we are continuing to be consistent in the league (sorry we have strayed off topic again!)
West Ham will start their campaign against the mighty Andorran side FC Lusitans, who finished 2nd in the Primero Divisio last season. The part-timers will host the first leg on an artificial pitch at a ground with a capacity of less than 900 on July 2nd. The home leg is a week later. Seems like a good opportunity for West Ham to score their first European goal of the millenium. They might even squeeze through to the next round, where they'll face either Birkirkara of Malta or Ulisses from Armenia.
That was in the CL, wasn't it, PISKIE? Didn't we recover our form? Do you remember where we finished, in that competition? And, for a bonus question, can you tell us when Arsenal last did better than that in the CL?
You got to the QF which you hilariously claimed was going further than Arsenal who got to the final in 2006
That's right. Everyone who read what I wrote (and who knew what I meant) pissed their pants with uncontrollable laughter for days on end. One even died, the hilarity was all too much for him.
Tell me again, what exactly did you mean when you said : 'We went further than Arsenal in the one season we were in it, than all the times they have been in that competition' ? Are you still claiming that getting to the QF is going further than reaching the final ?
On a plastic pitch that took us a while to get used to. 4-0 on the grass of WHL. And then on to the QFs of the CL. Remember those?
I never like to remember what I wrote in previous posts, as you well know (since you seem to hold an extensive archive of every word I have ever written).
Yeah, well, on those nights (gig nights) when I'm fending off hot pussy and the adulation of an appreciative audience, I often find myself worrying if I've made a faux pas on Not606.
Every day on here is a faux pas for you I'm afraid my friend. And we all know that trying to shove your mum's cat off your lap whilst playing guitar hero isn't the same as fending off hot pussy at a gig
