It is interesting but this kind of subject always sparks arguments as people tend be quite passionate about it.

They're nothing more than guess work and supposition.

If you genuinely think there'll be a practical necessity that means we'll have to eat insects for protein in the UK within 30 years, then you've got your head in the clouds mate.

I'd posted nothing heated in response to anyone until you posted your snide sanctimonous jibe and I merely responded in kind

Self awareness is not your strong suit, I've noticed that much about you.

    In this country?

    Not a chance.

We eat too much meat in this country anyway, so education and change in our diet to reduce the amount we consume is long overdue, but to suggest that we'll replace meat with insects in the UK driven by physical farming necessity is absolute bollocks imo.

Did I say in this country?

the whole world will need to change their eating habits, Western Europe and the states are the main ones though.

My concern is when we start eating bugs will they be given a good life before being slaughtered? It's essential that they have plenty of fresh sky to fly around in and that they are humanely killed when that time comes.

    Eating dogs is wrong.

Dogs and humans have a very particular relationship that is distinctive amongst domestic animals. We give them a respect and a place that we just don't give other animals and while you might feel your pet pig or pet snake would bring you your slippers when you got in if you trained it, there's just a completely different relationship that man has with dogs and eating them [just typing that makes me feel sick] would be a complete betrayal.

A chippy in Finch Lane by us got done a few years ago after a feller died after going for a late night take home meal, turns out that under the gravy was dog meat.

He never died of poisoning he died the next morning of a broken neck trying to lick his balls.<whistle>

Reminds me of the, man sees a dog licking his bollocks. Says to his mate, I wish I could do that. Mate says if you ask him nicely he might let you

We don't have the same relationship with cats as we do dogs [sorry DR]. Man has always had a special relationship with dogs and that isn't replicated with any other animal. Try teaching a cat to round up sheep, you get the idea.

Another thing I read recently on the eating animals topic - Is eating monkeys, canabalism?

What about fish? People keep fish as pets.

But it's OK to eat fish
'Cause they don't have any feelings

Or are fish fair game because they can't bring you your slippers, herd your sheep or viciously assault someone who has broken into your home?

The thing about dogs is, they eat their own ****. Labradors do anyway. How can you eat an animal that dines on its own excrement?
