Seems to me like this up and coming season will be the one where Vuckic finally starts to appear.

I hope so anyway. There have been a lot of good words said about this guy, and he seems to be a great prospect. He's a bloody big lad for his age so hopefully Pardew thinks he's ready to step up for a few games. Plus, he'll be 19 by the time the season starts, which doesn't quite seem as raw as 18.

If he lives up to expectations he could become a new player for the squad who is just as good (if not better) than many of the stars we have already. Let's hope so.

PS: On the subject of youngsters, let's see even more of Ferguson next season too.

Vuckic made a big impression on me the first time I saw him play. Likewise with young Fergusson and we've got other youngsters lining up ready to take their chance. Things are looking quite good for the future.

Very excited to see more of Vuckic, saw him in one of the great Youth cup runs we've had in recent years and he was the stand out player even though we lost to Vile 1-0 and it was his comeback game from ankle surgery I believe!
Cracking prospect but he needs to stay on the pitch and clear of the treatment table to fully develop.

I think this is a really important point actually. When people are discussing where we need cover, we must remember that the likes of Fergie, Vuckic are now ready to play that role. They'll have the odd stinker but if you don't use them you'll lose them and regret it massively. We're a in position at this moment in time where we are not challenging for Europe etc, or operating on a wage struture that requires guaranteed European football, so the money pressure to ensure you finish in the Euro places is a lot less. This is the perfect environment to blood youngsters and be richly rewarded with a boat load of enthusiasm. To have a succesful youth system, and one that young lads are attracted to, they needt o see a route to the first team. We have some cracking prospects.

This. Vuckic needs a loan spell in a decent Championship/Top L1 team IMO.

I worry that due to the competition in midfeild we might only see him in a few cup matches barring any serious injury crisis. Which is a shame as he looks like he has promise.

I would like to see him on loan for a season because I really don't think he'l get much time next season.

Is there not a role though for him in backing up Barton or whoever is down the right, and Ben Arfa in the middle. I think we should also remember we have a lot of players on our books who have a very recent history of injuries!

I think it's easy to forget that Vuckic is only 18 as he seems to have been held in high regard since we signed him at 16 and people waiting for him to get a chance. I though he was about 20. He's at the stage where he needs to start playing (either as a sub for us, or on loan at a Championship side) - game time is the only way if we'll know if he's good enough. Hype is one thing, proving it is another. I hope he gets a chance and grabs it, much like Ferguson. I can't believe Ferguson is 2 years older than Vuckic! Both Vuckic and Ferguson can be important players for us, Ferguson now and Vuckic in future.

Weird to think that Ranger is 16 months older than Vuckic, but has played in 51 more first team matches...

Kadar is another player I'd like to see a bit more of this season.

2nd that. lad has been terribly unlucky but seems to be getting there now. Some very favourable reports from his time with national team so hopefully he'll be ready to play a part. i think him and young Remi Steele is why they won't replace Campbell. Plus young Tavenier can play there. We shouldn't be afraid to give these young lads a game. look at krul against Palermo. I thought "Holy monkey, a young stick insect against a good italian team in europe, we're fooked" How wrong I was.

I'd also hope to see something of Bradden Inman this season as well.

He had a few good games in the Scotland U21's before injury.

I've got every faith in the youngsters and as you say there's Steele and Tavernier waiting in the wings too.

Inevitable headline for when he does something noteworthy (esp. if he scores a header): "Streete's ahead"
