Strangely I just happened to watch God Bless America tonight, I forgot quite how sharp and funny it was, and also how inspiring it is! (not the killing bit obviously, but sticking it to all the insipid morons out there)

I watched Prometheus a week or two ago, I don't think I've ever felt so insulted watching a film before, almost every time any of the characters did something I asked myself "why the **** would they do that?" they were supposed to be scientists at the top of their game, not a group of ****ing ******s.

    Just watched that myself.

Good overall but yes lots of silly points

It's not very tense either - compare with some of the scenes in the original 3 and this film is found lacking.

I found it so annoying when in a futile attempt to generate conflict, one of the worker dudes says "I'm not here to make friends".

    Just **** off

Bloody good shout. I was wondering what it was, and you're spot on. No tension, nowhere near enough edge of your seat stuff.

    Just another Saturday.

Watched this again the other night after coming across a Scottish films channel on youtube. Pretty grim stuff tbh. Perhaps because it's so very close to the truth. Looks dated now but having grown up at the time it was filmed I could identify with a lot of the characters in it. A damning indictment of Scotland's sectarian culture. The most damning thing about it though is the fact forty years after Iit was first shown there are still ****wits like the ones shown walking our streets.

    Restless natives.

Loved this film as a kid. Big, Big Country fan so I wis. Another that lookd a bit dated. Some of the acting is bloody terrible. Bernard Hughes' s Scottish accent is the worst in cinematic history.

In saying all that, it's still bloody good fun. Some of the dialogue is brilliant. Funny , funny film.

    The Usual Suspects:

Amazingly the wife had never seen this. Is it as good as I remember? Probably better, one of those movies that bears repeated watching just to gather all the nuances.

    Slow West.

Kodi Smit-McPhee and Michael Fasbender star in this superior western. A young Scottish man travels across America in search of the love of his life. On the way he hooks up with a bounty hunter and the going gets tpugh.

Excellent story with a few twists and turns. Great perfromances from the leads. It's a real slow burner though heavy on dialogue.

    Well worth your time.

What about the Scots accent though? Always worries me.

The young lad does fine. I think he is an Aussie. Didn't really give it much thought while watching it tbh so he couldnt have been really bad eh.

Terminator Genisys. Confirmed all my worst fears. If it needed saying, this film confirms there literally are no stories left to this story!

    Horrible horrible film.

    Soaked in bleach.

Days before Kurt Cobain's body was found Courtney Love hired a private detective to try and find the missing star. From the start Tom Harper smelled a few very large rats.

This film tells what he found before, during and after Cobain's apparent suicide.

Very good documentary that asks some very pertinent questions of the police investigation and of Love herself.

San Andreas. Does exactly what it says on the tin... very very well <ok> 9/10

Credit to Dwayne Johnson. I've seen him in so many films and I've yet to be disappointed by his performance

    Interstellar
Tries to be too clever at times but still pretty absorbing. Very similar to 2001: A Space Odyssey 8/10

    Ted 2
Much the same as Ted but fewer jokes however some of the gags are laugh out loud funny. One of them I was still laughing 5 minutes later. 7/10

What did you think of the ending to Interstellar, particularly from the wormhole/blackhole iirc? I thought from that point the film was ruined.

Yeah, it seemed a bit contrived and does not really make any sense, the first 2:15 of the movie was good though.
