Any chance of Ferrari making it a close race tomorrow?

Hulk did an impressive job today with that Force India.

Pathetic conspiracy theories by some just because F1's biggest superstar ever is running things even when facing the most competitive teammate to take on a reigning world champion since Lewis himself defeated a reigning double world champion.

Did you start watching F1 from 2007 as well?

Even then, you could make a strong case that 2007 Massa was on par with last year's Rosberg.

Please don't buy into the idea that F1 is squeaky clean. Everything should be viewed critically, the world ain't all clean cut as you would like to think.

I'm also guessing your knowledge about the Senna vs Prost feud is from various TV platforms, that broadcast it (the promos) as if it was the only drama in the last >20 years. Yes that's what Sky would like you to think. Hamilton vs. Rosberg is not Senna vs Prost. Never was like that, never will be again.

I am sure Ayrton himself would be sick of the brown nosing.

    @EternalMSC

Micheal Schumacher never had a teammate who could give him a serious challenge when he had a dominant car, Barichello ? Mansell when driving the Fw14B had no challenge from Patrese , Coulthard offered Milkka no real challenge in the West Mclaren designed by Newey and Webber finished 135 points behind Vettel when both were driving the best of the blown diffuser cars the RB7 . Lewis finally gets his hands on a dominant car and he is has arguably the fastest German on the grid as his teammate.

He didn't have a teammate to challenge, he did had other teams to fight (which he overcame). Unlike Mr. (Living the good life) Hamilton. With the nearest challenging team 20seconds behind at the end of the race. Have you also not noticed that 'save fuel Nico', means stay behind and let the poster boy win?

The reason Schumacher didn't have a challenge from a teammate was 1. He was a better driver. 2. He worked his way into that position with hard graft from 1996 and 3. The second drivers knew what they signed for, so they shouldn't whine (Barrichello) when questioned by the media.

    Off topic
I came here to say something about today's Grand Prix but I'm going to allow myself an amusing diversion.

Present 'fastest German on the (F1) grid'?
I'm going to play the game I see others doing to make a case for or against almost any individual they choose. For convenience, let us cast aside the debate over Rosberg's nationality, save that of acknowledging that he sees himself as German.
    ;)

For fun – and almost on the toss of a coin – I'll make a case for Rosberg. I think I could choose Vettel, but I'm a bit tired and I think it's actually more difficult. (Yeah; really!). As an aside, I think it would be interesting to see them together in the same team.
By way of acknowledgement to Hulkenberg and his apologists, I should say I do not think he's up there with either Vettel or Rosberg for outright pace. So, I'd like to look at (I think the popular term is cherry-pick?) the most recent outcomes for both leading protagonists when facing 'no holds barred' team-mates…

Firstly, despite Vettel being moulded into the image of a team he made his own, and being big buddies with its hierarchy (especially the highly influential Helmut Marko and his side-kick in the cHorner), and with four consecutive World Drivers' Championships already to his name, he was comprehensively blown away by an upstart called Ricciardo.
Secondly, Rosberg despatched Schumacher for every one of the
only three years Schumacher faced competition within a team (at least since Brundle, who had very quickly found himself up against someone whose various convictions suggest at least some doubt upon his integrity and character: Briatore). Set aside the statistics for a moment (which against Rosberg favour Vettel enormously) and it should be apparent that Rosberg has a good case for quickest German. Rosberg faced the unenviable task of taking on a living legend. And he beat Vettel's idol three seasons on the trot. And in two of these three (and only) seasons Schumacher faced competition – notwithstanding the aforementioned Brundle – Rosberg scored almost twice as many points over the whole course of the season!

I'm not interested in the 'Schumacher was over the hill' defence: Rosberg was the first and only opponent the man of improbable statistics faced not gagged and bound with a hand behind his back; not weak and sycophantic (Irvine); not subserviant and sycophantic (Barrichello, Massa and Irvine). I felt sorry for the under-rated but very quick Rosberg many months before Schmacher eventually – and foolishly, in my view – decided to face someone for real: if Rosberg were to come out victorious, it would be because his team-mate was past it; and if he lost, his career would have been in tatters for the very same reason!
    *

Fair play to Rosberg. If we accept his nationality, I think he has as much claim to 'fastest German on the grid' as anyone (past or present).

    - - -o0o- - -
Back on topic: I think both Rosberg and Vettel are likely to pose a very real threat to Hamilton later today!

    * I should say in Schumacher's defence that had he beaten Rosberg, he'd have gone up considerably in my estimation and probably would have squarely answered his most severe critics. But three out of three times, he didn't.
However, there is something I should add: in eventually taking on an unfettered opponent, Schumacher finally demonstrated his courage. And for what it's worth, I wish him well in his biggest and longest fight…

P.S. Although I sense your pain, EMSC, I assure you it's nothing personal. For your sake, I hesitated to bring your man into this but he is part of the story and very relevant to the perception of Rosberg, as well as being Vettel's idol. Take comfort that he is so easily seen by so many as someone to be measured against. Best wishes to him and you both.

2007 reigning world champion was Alonso though, and his team mate was Hamilton. So in a roundabout way he's claiming Rosberg is a better driver than Hamilton, even though Hamilton has consistently beaten Rosberg since they became team mates. Could you explain 2xwumslayer why you think Rosberg is the stronger team mate? Because it's making my face ache trying to get my head around it.

We really need to add some tusken raiders...

But at least Rosberg got Hamilton, so it'll be interesting for the rest of the race, because this way round is the only way we'll see any action.

Pleased to see that they are both ok but I can't help seeing that accident as a metaphor for Kimi and Fernando's careers as they're going now... Shame we've had a promising start to the race truncated though.
