Totally incorrect.... #cafc
And why announce it on a saturday. Not content with selling our best players for nout, they now want to ruin our weekends
He is no stooge. Whether it was 3.5M or 7M the more relevant question is how much money is RD willing to put aside for new players? Bauer and Bulot to be announced early next week.
i think the cafc press officers were forced to put the story up when liverpool confirmed it first. the cafc lot like to give a "good" news story along with bad news. what i like to call a sh1t sandwich.. we've signed bauer - bread we've let gomez go for peanuts - sh1t we've signed bulot - bread
FFS WE HAVE NOT LET GOMEZ GO FOR PEANUTS. THE FEE WAS NOT 3.5 MILLION. How much would you say was good for someone who has no Premiership experience and has played just over 21 games in the Championship?
It is just something I have heard from someone who works for the Club. I am not claiming to be ITK but am just passing it on, believe it or disbelieve it.
This is from Ketts who has good contacts at Charlton. http://www.cafcpicks.com/cgi-bin/drkish/display.pl?month=201506&date=20150620&time=1253
I'm still apprehensive. This is the figure coming from charlton. The national media and Liverpool are saying it's far less. If it was £7million I believe the club would have announced it as that would have been the best measure of damage limitation to the situation.
Oh and it's worth pointing out the club haven't really got a good recent history with being truthful have they?
It's like telling your wife what you earn. Pretend it's £3.5m and then you don't have the fans moaning that you've not spent £7m on new players when you have the money to do so. No, call it £3.5m and pocket the difference.
There will be something sinister somewhere. Wether him pocketing the money or us not getting the 7mil they're planting.
People criticising those who are questioning renewing valley gold - it's easy when you haven't contributed
Olly Groom has a habit of writing Club PR on the OS rather than the truth which as he is paid by the Club is understandable BUT this also makes any comments by him rather unreliable. ALL the Papers (British and foreign) state the transfer fee is £3.5m whereas un-named people who work for the club state it is a lot higher, well the Club have a habit of lying both on Twitter and on the OS (that sex on the pitch video for instance) so until somebody trustworthy has evidence that the fee is a lot higher than the £3.5m stated in the papers I know who I am going to believe. I do think that people undervalue our youth products, FHB and I have been saying on here that Joe is the real deal for a few years now... well he is the real deal and Liverpool have recognised that and unlike our Belgian owner, are willing to invest proper money in paying and developing good youth players. We lost Poyet because we were not willing to pay him a salary reflecting his potential, we lost Gomez because we are not showing any ambition to build a squad willing to challenge for the Championship. If Gomez goes out on loan to Derby for next season then I think it is safe to assume that Liverpool were in the driving seat during the transfer negotiations and this will probably give confirmation as to the Transfer fee. You can imagine the transfer negotiations now.... Walloon Witch "We want £9m plus add ons and a 12 month fee free loan back for next season" Liverpool "We offer Charlton the £3.5m exit clause" Walloon Witch Cries ....... "But my owner knew nothing about the exit clause"....."PLEASE" Liverpool "Sorry we must go now and discuss wages with Mr Gomez's agent ....... we are not expecting those to be so easy....... bye" Walloon Witch Still crying... "You have got to give me something..... sniff sniff" Liverpool "Tell you what... as you are inexperienced in these matters... we have some old training cones at the training ground, you can have those and we will call them add ons plus we will not disclose the fee to the press" Walloon Witch Stops crying.."Oh thank you.. yes that will be a great help"
At least this forum is not falling for the happy-clappy propaganda emanating from the club, triumph for the Academy and all that stuff. I'd say that this sets a precedent for our youth products, who are all very pleased for Gomez. I expect Edwards will be the next. He may well already be the best LB at the club (I haven't seen Holmes-Dennis for a while), but at least players like him are now getting 3-year contracts, but Luzon will know that picking him for the first team is merely putting him in the shop window. I think our next 3 best prospects are only 16, Konsa, Lookman and Bone, so we'll have to wait and see how they come along.
