The agent of Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherinihas claimed that his client will play like a "genius" under manager Dick Advocaat next season.

The Italian praised the appointment of Advocaat earlier this month, after the veteran Dutch coach led the Black Cats to Premier League survival last term.

Giaccherini, whose ankle injury ruled him out of their relegation run-in, had been linked with a switch away, but his representative Furio Valcareggi says that he will stay.

"Sunderland have kept Advocaat as manager, he's a very good one, a holy man of football, and with him Giaccherini will be a genius," Valcareggi told The Mirror.

"I'm sure Emanuele will do very well next season. His goal is the European Championships.

"He will remain 100% at Sunderland. Although there was some interest last winter came, we decided to believe in the project of the English club."

Giaccherini joined the North-East club from Juventus in 2013.

Shouldn't that be "Played" and "Lost" - his instructions were from previous managers - Dick will hopefully get him involved in the attacking third. Just my opinion like!

Yeah, it's no good comparing anybody to what they were before. Advocaat obviously sees things in a player and gets it out of them far better than Poyet or di Canio. Just look at Coates and Graham - they're totally different players since Dick came. Giac's heart is obviously with Sunderland, so I hope he has a good season.

Giacc doesn't want to leave Sunderland closing this chapter off his career and marking it a failure. He's everything I want from a professional footballer. He deserves an injury free season just for his tremendous attitude. He's got everything but a bit of weight and folk would sell him on because of that. I love Giacc me. A real classy player.
