Right this morning the Bristol press think that we have given up on signing Nicky Maynard but Rob Tanner doesnt think we have. I dont think Sven will give up on Maynard until either we sign Maynard or someone else, same as i still think the door is open for Yakubu. I think if he rang Sven up and said he wanted to sign and will drop his wage demands then he would be signed up. I hope one way or another the Maynard thing is sorted very quickly, Bristol are about to return from their pre season trip from Portugal

Sky are just running with what the local paper says in Bristol. I dont believe for one minute Sven has given up

He knows we want him he hasnt asked for a transfer he will run his contract down for next year and get some big bucks. Just dont get injured this season or you will be up the poo creek , I think we still need someone to bag us 20+ goals but im board of this maynard thing now Im a leicester fan Im used to hearing about a player one day and signing them the next lol

This can all be resolved very easily:

Maynard signs a new contract! This would show his commitment to BCFC and would be the clubs most desired move. His value would be retained because no risk of leaving on a free and if he continues to score goals then a premiership club/or one challenging for promotion may come back in for him.

BCFC have offered him the biggest contract offer in the history of the club, so the ball is well and truely in Maynards court!

I think he is ridiculously over-rated and if the £5m price tag is to be believed then I hope we see sense and spend that money on a better player. He is very good when on form but lots of players can hit form and start banging in the goals, Danny Graham, Grant Holt etc.

The whole 20+ goals thing is a joke as well, you can't guarantee that any player will score that amount. Look at Bellamy at Cardiff last season, no where near yet everybody said he would storm it. Any good striker can find form and hit that target, King was only five off for us!

I think Nugent could be the 20 goal striker. He would have Waghorn, Vassell +1 more backing him up. I would try and get Gary Hooper from Celtic

Definitly think Nugent is our best chance of getting 20 from a player?

Although Waghorn could suprise if given the chance?

Think he would be the right player for the squad that we have and the style of football that we will play. Deffo in the players hands now. If he wants to come he will have to make it known to the Bristol board that he wants to speak to us. If he doesnt, then more fool him.

According to this Sven has said:
    (Re. Guidetti).

"We spoke about him yesterday," he told Expressen.

"John is without a doubt a very good football player with technique and that is strong. But at the moment we are looking at other alternatives.

"We want a player who can run deep behind the opponents' defenders and break through into the penalty area. We have at least two more players on their way in."

So who are they? Maynard + A.N.Other?

All in all 5 mil is too much, you may aswel spend 8 mil on a premierleague player no?

Screw maynard, all we need is paul dickov and a galagher type winger.
May i add im nervous regarding midfield!

Yeh I'm getting a bit fed up with this now. I really want him to come but it's obvious he won't, why doesn't he just sign a new contract and get it done with.

We definitely need another striker, I don't know how anyone can dispute that. We've been complaining for some time that we need someone to put it in the net etc. I'm convinced Sven will bring someone else in. We seem strong in every area but this one.

If we get Routledge though I'll be pleased. We are missing a player like him who will beat players for pace and deliver, he was good for QPR last season as well. With him and Gallagher either side it's up to Nugent, Waggy, Vassell and the new striker to claim the central striking role.

galagher, no striker. Waggy, stil to hit prime form n too young for autos push, vassel? Too old for new lcfc. Howard too old, nugent is our only bet. Even 1 new striker is something to worry about considering a injury. We are still 6/10 in termz of depth.

Defence is done, midfield is compitent.. bla

ztop being zo fookin negative. Just because we may not sign our prime target for silly money does not mean anything. Sven will get the players in we needmate chill out. By the time we kick off at cov we will not be relying on howard or vassellfor goals.

According to SKY SPORTS (FOOTBALL) NEWS we have ended our interest in Maynard & have turned our attention to Evens.

HIS LOST, but then again maybe he´s not a premiership player.

According to some Bristol paper a Foxes spokesperson has said blah blah blah. Yeah like they would speak to the Bristol Evening Post.

If the deal is dead we will see another striker of the type Sven wants and a winger.
