We have been looking at Byram for a while, it's why I said his name. If not Byram get a player around 20yrs old in that can compete with Cedric. We can't go in with only one rb.
Agree with this completely beef, think there's got to be better and better value options out there if we're specifically looking for a 2nd RB to compete with Cedric though. Byram's the sort that wouldn't look out of place if the transfer fee was £4.5-5m, the destination was West Brom or Norwich, and the position was RM in a flat 4-4-2.
Not particularly, I quoted his tweet in part two of my post and he only said it two days ago. How was I to know that the spotting happened at the time of the £10m bid when Blackmore has never specified that?
No we can't. I realise we've been looking at him before, which is why I keep asking Leeds fans about him. Still, we might think he has all the basics and can polish him up!!
Trust me, that is doubled beef! He's got one year left on contract, transfermarkt value is £2.64m, and at 21 he's never played for England at any youth level. He was called up to U20's for the first time 2 years ago in 2013, but pulled out through injury. Never been seen in an England U20 or U21 squad since. Edit: I will of course hold my hands up and hope he plays well if I'm wrong and we sign him, but think that the boat may more likely have sailed on our previous scouting of this one.
Anyone think that there's a possibility that Clyne may now go to Liverpool just to get guaranteed first team football (as well as the pay rise)? Staying here he would have a reasonable amount of pressure, and also game sharing with an International of pretty much similar standing.
There's no doubt that Saints have made up their mind. They have acted. Now it is up to Clyne. If he wants to stay he will be challenged, and more than likely he will have to share the RB position. But if he wants to go to another Europa League club then he should go. They are in transition, and possibly have further to fall. This club is going in one direction only. Up. Which is the odd thing. Clearly, Liverpool can offer more money, but Clyne hesitates. It's because he knows he could have a solid future here and the others who went before him haven't faired greatly. But if you're going Nat, go and don't let the door hit your arse [as we often say]. Perhaps Liverpool are his fallback choice.
Properly punned for you! Pleased with the club here, I know the volume of exits and our managerial situation made it difficult to be proactive last summer, but signing Cedric is a strong message to Clyne. We want to keep you, but we don't need you. Say he doesn't sign, but no one coughs up. Will he be a free next summer or does he still qualify as a young player and a tribunal style transfer fee(a la Ings)?
Well recognised. What I wanted to suggest was that Liverpool was his last choice other than simply staying an competing. But you certainly got the idea. Yep, I'm pleased with the club too. These days I'm hardly ever displeased with the club. They are certainly on their toes.
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...target-Nathaniel-Clyne-despite-Cedric-arrival I love the insinuation in this headline. "How dare they stick to their demands! It's Liverpool, for god's sake!"
Since when is ambition confused with success? I would suggest that in any other job moving to earn more money would be seen as ambition. You can say that it isn't moving to Liverpool to win things but can't say it isn't to do with ambition.
I disagree. I changed my job two years ago for more money. I took a few steps down in terms of position on the ladder as I felt my ambition in climbing the ladder had waned.
Problem is when you go to a club like Liverpool, it's almost certainly your final stepping stone in this country, so that move is a risk - as Liverpool don't sell to their traditional rivals in this country. It's your big club peak. Unless he shows absolutely exceptional talent (and thus goes to Barcelona, Madrid etc.), he certainly won't be going to Man U ever, and extremely unlikely to go to Arsenal or Chelsea. City is about the only possible CL club he can get to - again, he must show exceptional talent to draw a huge bid that Liverpool simply can't refuse. So if he wants to bet his chips on Liverpool making the CL, that's his prerogative, but imo it would be a mistake - Brenda will get fired soon enough, and there is no guarantee a new manager won't want his own players in key positions; plus with Man U on the rise, Chelsea extremely stable and nicely set up with CL-winning targets for the next five years, City about to splurge some serious cash (including on a key Liverpool player), and Arsenal looking stronger than they have in a decade, that is a quite serious gamble, as Liverpool and their ragtag bunch of Southampton and Burnley mercenaries will not be breaking into that clique for a long time. He could get a bigger move after some European experience with us (and we could get more cash for him too).
More money for taking a demotion? Tell me more, I may be considering a change in career !!! Although I suppose Poch got a lot more money but had to step down the ladder a bit, so everything comes at a price.
Not too bothered about Clyne going. There's no hurry to sell him though. We should hold out for the right price
Talk about a quick way to recycle their old article into 'new' news! Add the word 'still' into the headline, and chuck a bit of the Cedric press release into the old article.
