Will there be a power shift this season?? Goons think they are ready to overcome their psychological block, win big games, mount a serious title challenge (and CL campaign next season) and become the capital's top dogs for the first time since 2004. Thoughts??
Good thread, and quite timely. If the question is: will Arsenal overtake Chelsea? The answer, clearly, is a big "no," not a chance. If the question is: can any of the other London clubs make a shift on Arsenal? Well, I think Spurs have a good chance of making a shift, as some already believe we have. However, I am undecided on that particular issue, at the moment.
There's about as much chance of Arsenal finishing above Chelsea as there is of Spurs finishing above Arsenal. **** all.
Arsenal are London's third club when it comes to European football. Specialists in failure, year after year after year. I wonder if Wenger's young bucks can match Spurs and get past the last 16 for the first time since 2010. They must dream that one day they can match Spurs' total of European trophies or maybe even Chelsea's.. But they just seem to have a mental block in Europe .... even more so than the league
I find myself in total agreement with you, CFC. Looking at this as a neutral, I think Arsenal are going to find it very difficult to match either Spurs or Chelsea's European records.
They've only really won trophy in Europe. The Fairs Cup is a much bigger joke than Europey. And the only time they succeeded was by parking the bus under GG. When they play their passing game they lose. Their only strong CL campaign involved them parking the bus in 2006, six clean sheets in the knockout phase and 1-0 aggregate wins, yawn. So boring. Having said all that is sad to see Arsenal languishing behind West Ham and Slovan Bratislava in European terms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UEFA_club_competition_winners
Why don't you just accept that Arsenal are London's most successful club. The stats are there to prove it
If you bothered to do just a little bit of research you wouldn't make yourself look a fool My father was the physio of a club that played Slovan Bratislava in the ECWC
That's a true story.Being you're so fond of Wiki have a look at the teams Slovan played during the 1963/64 season in the ECWC
This far-reaching thread certainly puts to bed PISKIE's vain assertion that no one is talking about the Power Shift. It seems, in fact, that everyone is talking about it! I'm still undecided on the subject, but I am open-minded enough to be persuaded either way.
Don't get me wrong, I am fascinated by Slovan's 1963 cup run, and who their physio and kit man were, but I am going to wait til the movie comes out I have an equally boring claim to fame, my uncle was dentist to Bristol City in the 70s (who coincidentally have the same number of European Cups and physios as Slovan Bratislava and Arsenal). If you can recall the state of Gerry Gow's hampsteads, you would choose to use my uncle's practice!
Arsenal overachieved this season, just as Liverpool did a few seasons ago and look how that ended. United have more chance of winning the league this season then Arsenal
When will a London club take over the biggest and best supported club in London, Manchester United? Watford are clearly a club on the rise. Are they Londons final hope?
