My view on the gun debate is that people should have the right to own a gun so they can defend themselves against armed robbers. Guns should be banned on the street apart from police.

The UK had a gun ban in the 90s after Dunblane and there's been no school shootings since. Must be a coincidence...

Ok, I took a leisurely drive back from Lausanne to Geneva, following the road that twists in and out of the towns and the banks of Lake Geneva. I seriously recommend people take a trip there - I will be taking Mrs FLT back there for a weekend as it is simply stunning. Switzerland on one side and France on the other (always good admiring the French from across a piece of water :)). Anyway, I am pottring a long and I see a road sign that says "UEFA" so I decide to follow it as my flight isn't until 21:45 and plenty of time on my hands and sure enough, there it was just set back from the road. I decide to have a little nosey and just drive straight in and up to reception. Nobody there apart from a friendly receptionist, but I was amazed that I could just drive in and through the complex, taking photos and right up to the front door.

Not hugely exciting and Monsieur Platini wasn't in .

Something even better than that FLT I was in my local the other day and they sell marmite flavoured cashew nuts.......bloody hell they were yummy , and as I know you also have an affection for marmite you could keep a look out for them.

Eh hum... I have my very own marmite jar shaped tub that is regularly stocked with marmite cashews. Been buying those for a couple of years now; very nice. If you like rice cakes, they do marmite rice cakes too!

    Thanks anyway though.

I have to drink the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov hot Bovril on match days. That is enough for me. The only thing that makes it palatable is the cheese sandwich.

I concur with this, any savoury snack is only improved by a coating of Marmite. Both the cashews and the rice cakes are yum.

Quadraphenia on again. This time I turfed out my double LP. Just thought how many times I've played it since I bought it in the 1970's. Probably only a dozen times. I just overlooked it a lot. Blimey, it sounds incredible. Dynamic and clear. Doesn't even set off my tinnitus like a CD or MP3 would.

I love it when I re-discover LPs. It takes me back to when I first loved them, plus I get the hairs raised on the back of my neck as the music takes me down the road. This one, I have really neglected.

OK, I've taken Quadraphenia off at Side 2 because I wanted a change of mood. Fragile by Yes came in at the time I was really starting to listen to music rather than just go WOW..! But this is wow music. It's really clever stuff. Could have been better recorded, mind you. There are multiple melodies and harmonies going on. It's quite technical. After all these years though I'm still slightly at awe with their talent. Most of the Yes band members could have been classical artists in their field, but I'm so glad they didn't become so. For one reason that they wouldn't have produced such sublime music, and another that Rick Wakeman wouldn't have been there to help me get my Mum out of a South Hants hospital lift, whilst I whistled Roundabout back to him. He never let on and neither did I, and I'm a reasonably good whistler.

Just read what President Obama has said about the latest killing melee in the USA:

...The USA ''...will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries...
...Once again, innocent people were killed, in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun.''

    F****** well said.

Who knows In Visible Silence by The Art of Noise.?

Well I'm playing it before I get off up the wooden hill. The synthetic bass on vinyl is staggeringly clear. Here's a fairly good sample on mp3. Don't bother unless you have headphones or a decent sound system:

Don't know why I didn't watch the accompanying video but it is dynamite. He addresses the fact that people are killed in the USA because of the easy access to guns. And he knows he's saying something people don't want to hear. He's an out going President with nothing to hide or fear. Well played Obama.
