My argument is we had 2 strikers we have never gone with one and a loan. I don t care how good they are (well I do actually) but you said we only go with loan and that is simply not true.

Michu in his second season actually made 24 appearances in his second season.

Pedantic it may appear but does it really matter if they were permanent or on loan , the point is the "supporting " striker has not been of the equivalent quality of who ever has been the main man .Gomis had a sulk with the Club when playing second fiddle Bony the same when he was not started . but was more professional in the way he dealt with it .
Any quality overseas player looks at us as a stepping stone to bigger and better things ( re: Ayews interview when he signed ) and if they want to get noticed then they'll want to play and not be a bit part player so I just can't see the Board gambling with over sized egos.

By the way I'd love to see the likes of Mitrovic here.

I agree TLF, I think we need more too but other than Mitrovic and Remy, who now it seems are out of our price range, I don't rate any one we've been linked with.

With those two off radar and it seems to me that all we are linked with are average players to play understudy or back-up. I'd have Oliviera back over any we've been linked with especially those from the championship. At least he's had experience with us, will be able to hit the ground running and he's desperate to come back so could end up playing out of his skin, but at the very least he knows what's required here.

Mitrovic would be my perfect choice with Remy second after those two, then.........there's none. We've only been linked with average players who we'd only logically sign to play understudy roles.

Hope I'm wrong and Harry Kane decides he wants to live by the sea.

I am not saying we have to have another 15m striker, although I would love to have Mitrovic. But we have to have someone who can push Gomis. without it he can do as he feels. Why are we only saying this about strikers. We have players in different positions around the pitch and there is completion everywhere and no one is guaranteed their place, (except maybe Fab last year). So why as a striker are we only allowed one good one in case it upsets someone. Utter garbage as far as I am concerned.

    I don't disagree and I'm sure we'll see a few new faces yet .

Have you considered that we may start with two up front for certain games, I would like to gomis have a strike partner to see how that pans out a 3-5-2 with a midfielder dropping back in defence when needed is something I'd like to see happen.

His name crops up and is linked with the Club every transfer window . He didn't shine at Citeh although who would with the players in front of him in the pecking order. Micah Richards has gone to Villa who imo I thought was player desperate to play regularly ,injuries aside that is

Know little about him Beppe. Seems he was on Citeh's books for some time and was loaned out a lot to:
Brommapojkarna, Burnley, Feyenoord, Stoke, Celtic, with only one decent season (20 goals at Feyenoord) to his name and effectively a whole season off struggling for fitness in 2012-13 due to a virus.

Can find anything on Wikipedia, wish it could find my keys.

He must have been decent at some point but whether he's still got it Beppe who knows.

The thing that bothers me is, imo, he stayed at Man City far too long without a sniff at the first team, happy to be loaned out all the time which suggests lack of motivation and ambition to me. He was also happy to take the money. Not my kind of guy it seems, I'm not sure about him at all Beppe.

I am convinced we will see us playing two up front in some games this season, We all know that monk is not afraid to experiment with his formation and that is good as it keeps the opposition guessing on how we plan to play. Some of the big clubs rotate their strikers every few games and that keeps them fresh and ready to play when chosen. The more options we have the better we will be as a club so we need a minimum of 3 strikers and in other positions and i can see us a match for anyone big or small...

It's not a question of bowing to Gomis or anyone else it's just that as a small club we can't afford to spend £15 million on a striker to sit on the bench, it just won't happen. We will bring in a young relatively unknown player or a loanee to supplement what we have. We have Gomis and Ayew who can play the striker role, both have quality, and goal scoring ability, so as I said in my opinion we will bring in a loanee (Olevira possibly) as back up.

Routledge also played up front towards the end of the season. Plus there's Emnes (although I'm not a fan of his).

Well I would say that Hull didn't manage at all as they were relegated, west brom survived but scored less than us. So not really a good comparison. We will probably bring in somebody but won't break the bank, it seems that my prediction of how much we are going to spend on this window is being borne out

But we have imo a better squad , and we finished higher .as I posted before, have we been lucky with having only one main striker ,perhaps .

A big payday for Watford if he's sold but also a risk if they have any ambition to remain in the PL .
