My top hat is being tilted to you Sir Barney. Fair play to the forums favourite toff he has been having his butler shout this horse from the roof tops and the horse has delivered in style today. Now watch Hannon walk up to Frankie and say ' oh so you do know what holding up a horse is'
There's no doubt Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Pleascach is the most talented horse in the Ribblesdale, but no value whatsoever at 10/11 running over an extra 4 furlongs. I'll be backing Curvy ridden by Ryan Moore, who's 6/1 and unbeaten this season. And a small bet on Wedding Vow at a bigger price (14/1) in first time headgear, trained by Aidan O'Brien. But she's still a maiden.
Just as well they didn't cancel the Norfolk after all! Seems crazy in hindsight the price of the winner, another one for OBrien. Round two form Omniously ste's Kingfisher tip is worrying me more and more! Hannons certainly not having a great week are they. Hats off to Barney, that's what he was talking about! That's a Grade 1 machine if ever I've seen one. 5/1 in a handicap last run seems completely ridiculous now in hindsight Hoping its a favorites day from now in, though I'm hoping Simenon can at least shake up the big horse in the GC!
Well done to all those that backed Time Test. Doubtless the party will have started at Chuckles Towers. It is the biggest meeting of the summer (allegedly) and the going is quick, so why have all the jockeys lost their heads? If you can hear a gunshot at Ascot, that is Paul Hanagan being put out of his misery for running Mustadeem into the ground and setting the race up for the favourite that was able to settle in mid-division while the front runners blew their chances. Mine was out the back and never got in it. I backed Dissolution last time when he was second to Time Test. As I will not be having a penny on it at the crappy prices available today, it could well win the last. When Time Test is beaten out of sight next time, you will know that I have stopped it.
That was a G3 race in name but the time of that race was very fast (if I heard it correctly, more than 2 secs faster than Free Eagle's G1 race). Given how smoothly and easily he won that race, surely that puts him in with some sort of chance against Golden Horn? I can hear sounds of "Don't get carried away" but that was a serious performance and, as I say, G3 race in name only.
Very well done all time test backers what a serious horse he is Roger Charlton said he will probably next run in France wherever he does if in same grade g3 you can be sure it will take something special if in same form to beat him
Pleascach is another bad short-priced favourite at the Royal meeting (stupid snobs will back anything at any price); however, she won over ten furlongs before winning the Irish 1000 Guineas, so she is only going two furlongs further plus she gets no penalty for her Group 1 win. There is no such thing as “value” – a loser returns nothing whether it is 10/11 or 10/1. If I think the odds on favourite is going to win (which I do) then I leave the race alone.
You're right, connections must be confident she'll stay another 2 furlongs. But I'm looking for a horse to beat her. One could be Luca Cumani trained filly Pamona, who met trouble in running when 3rd at Newbury and bypassed the Oaks to take her chance here.
