I don't know enough about them hazard a guess. I'm familiar with Albatross from the late 60s & other singles, Everywhere, Lies & others. It's one of those not really listened in depth so just don't get it based on what I've heard scenarios.

A good old pal, with usual good tastes in music, swears by them. I'll go away & educate myself, where would you suggest I start?

Yeah but you should do, just to feel daft about that comment saying you or yer granny could play it! It's not really a song, just a video of the guitarist in the studio, recording his part to a song. Whether you like them or not, you have to admire what he does.

Funny at the time to see folks attracted to a Fleetwood Mac concert by Albatross and watch their faces as they launched into Shake Your Money Maker.

Just glad no misguided fool has said they don't get Janis Joplin or Otis Redding.

    Don't be surprised.

I hope nobody says they don't get Marvin Gaye.

    The Enemy.

Remember them? Only a few years back.

Fronted by an obnoxious, earthworm sort of a lad, making really ponderous radio trash, I think trying to invoke The Jam in some way.

They were utterly bland, but heroes in their own minds.

For a while, they were successful and everywhere. A stain on the nation.

Here's one I don't get, but it is someone revered, and who I've given the time of day, but failed to grasp it.

    Gary Numan.

Now I like synth pop as much as anyone. I'm all over it. But Gaz isn't sticking, yet he's a legend of the genre.

    Weird innit.

I was still in my 30's when they got going, they're hardly new.

If we're looking over the pond, Kings Of Leon are far better.

    Actually, yeah, that is weird.

    No, not what you think.

Last weekend out in the car, was listening to my itunes in the car, whole library was available on random, deal was we had 3 passes each if anything ****e came on. On comes Are Friends Electric. Neither me nor the witch were going to pass on this song, but for different reasons.

Now, when that came out, I was sort of discovering my "own" music, until then it had been my parents stuff, mostly motown and rock n roll of course. That record really impacted on me. The synth, the lyrics, the look of the band, everything. That was the point that music took on a whole new meaning in my life, and has continued til today. Despite what some might think on here, that song very much touched my soul and had such a deep, mournful soul of its own that even today it makes me go quiet listening to it.

Times were different then, so I get why you don't get it btw.
