Can anybody suggest a decent CBT place please, looking for friendly as am nervous haha thought about the one up off Dunswell lane?
Wow....now that takes me back........I took my test the year that the new two part test came in (before the current version of CBT) .....around 35 years ago......I took mine at that place....shocked it's still there !!
Took mine in '72 - for the life of me I can't remember where I took it! National Ave springs to mind, I don't have a clue why? It pissed down throughout my test, the examiner barely left the shop doorway that he was sheltering in - rode twice round the block, 50 yards riding at walking pace then back to the test centre, three Highway Code questions answered before the sacred ''pink slip'' was thrust into my wet, grubby mitts. A week later traded up a solid 250cc Greeves Sportsman for a flighty Yamaha YR5 two stroke .............. the beginning of a never ending love affair!
Was that your proper test rather than CBT ?? My CBT was over half a day....some theory training.....on road training with an instructor riding alongside....then back to Dunswell for some slow speed manoeuvres, then riding a cone slalom course, stopping dead on a white line from 30mph etc.....you could then book your main test sending off the certificate from the CBT
No CBT in the 70's, you booked your test, you rode around a circular route with the examiner taking shortcuts through alleys to watch you, an emergency stop without stalling, a few yards riding at walking pace alongside the examiner as he walked back to the test centre, apart from three/four Highway Code questions, that was your lot. My test took about 20 minutes; it pissed down throughout and I'm fairly sure my examiner stood in a shop doorway, smoking a woodbine, for its entirety.
Have you got a car licence? If so, doing a CBT is pointless unless you passed in the last 5 or so years.
