Arcade Fire were awful. I've got their "Funeral" album but the only bit I like is that guitar intro to "Wake Up"! Seemed to me they're more motivated by their aesthetics than their music these days. And, much as it pains me to say it, Pixies were pretty poor, too.
I thought Arcade Fire were pretty good. I agree on Pixies, they weren't that great. The best headliners in recent years were Arctic Monkeys in 2013.
Rebellion (Lies) is such a good tune. Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) or Haiti are my favourites on that album personally though.
Going back to Florence, if they were going to bump one of the acts before Foo Fighters up to replace them, surely Motorhead was the best choice? Also - AC/DC, Noel Gallagher, The Strokes and Blur were free on that Friday night. All of those are waaaaaay better choices than Florence.
You should contribute Arcade Fire as a band you don't get! I've always liked them, I think Funeral is a great album, dropped off a bit with Neon Bible, but The Suburbs is amazing. I saw them at Newcastle Metro about 2005/06, and it was without doubt the best gig I've seen. It made sense. I see your point with the aesthetic, especially now, all stripes across his face etc. I wasn't really impressed with the Reflektor album, but I do think they carry a lot of good tunes.
Slipknot video? Nah eldest plays it. He will find himself on the street soon if he doesnt discover Northern Soul grrrr.
He's scared of anything new, bless him. If it doesn't sound like it could've been in Quadrophenia it makes him realise he's 50 and he panics.
Kinell Tickles. This is trance and believe me, it is made using musical instruments, honest. It's also ****ing brilliant.
