According to a new report, NHS advice to drink at least 1.2 litres of water/day is a steaming pile of poo. Benefits of NHS guidelines on drinking water exaggerated The report's author says that this advice is thoroughly debunked nonsense promulgated by the bottled water industry. There is no evidence that drinking this amount of water prevents multiple health problems as is claimed. Far from aiding concentration, drinking water when not thirsty can actually impair it. There's also evidence which suggests that chemicals used to disinfect bottled water can be bad for your health. please log in to view this image Cheers.

The other myth is that coffee is a strong diuretic and you should drink water to replace any lost through coffee consumption. Absolute crap. The diuretic effect of coffee is minisclue and it's more than off-set by the water you put in it Unless you're eating straight from the jar of course...
all health advice is bollocks anyway..one week they're telling pregnant women to avoid all alcohol..the next they encourage so many units of red wine a week.. aload of ****. then they come out with random guff like "pepper can reduce the risk for alzheimers" etc etc
