Channel 5 to broadcast Football League highlights show at primetime
    17-Jun-2015
    Contact: Claire Wigington 020 7308 5271
Channel 5, the new home for The Football League’s weekly highlights show, can confirm details of their coverage this season following the fixtures announcement, with their new show Football League Tonight.

Football League Tonight will be shown in a live primetime 9pm slot on Channel 5 every Saturday of the season from Saturday 8th August. The rights have been signed to the channel to broadcast a 90 minute weekly Football League highlights show for the next three years.

    Every Goal. Every Week
Each show will feature the top match footage from all three divisions of the Sky Bet Football League and will include every single goal from matches across the board.
In addition, Channel 5 will also broadcast three one-hour shows covering the end of season Sky Bet Play-Offs across all three divisions, plus eight one-hour highlights shows covering the action from each round of the Capital One Cup.

    Your Show
As well as every goal across the divisions, the show will be jam packed with high profile names. Players and managers will be encouraged to join us in the studio each week, or take part in the conversation via Skype and Facetime. A vibrant studio audience of genuine fans will also give their opinions. No lengthy punditry, no football clichés, this is football on 5 at its most exciting.

    Yay! Adverts!

Thank God for recording and video-on-demand.

I wouldn't be surprised if, despite the interruptions, it was better than the Football League Show, because that was just a ****ing shambles.

Record it on SKY+, wait half an hour and watch and then just skip through the adverts before MOTD.

They haven't announced the presenters of this yet have they?

They asked Ian Wright and Stan Collymore to be on it, but Wrighty said Collymore was 'the last person I'd want to present a football show with'.

9pm to 10.30pm then switch over to MOTD.

I expect adverts at the end of each league at the very least.

I record most things that aren't live sport and zip through the adverts its the only way, it's a shame that you can't get an Adblock-Plus type thing for adverts on Tv like you do for Firefox/Google Chrome

Surely they can get a better pair than these two?! I'd go for Beagrie and a different one each week, like Rosys dad or even Windass

Can't stand Collymore or Wright but I suppose its catch 22, at least they keep you awake by getting on your nerves!

Ian Wright would be a good choice, talks more sense than most former footballers. Collymore is a raving lunatic, his talking **** to talking some sense ratio is too high for my liking, 8:1 in favour of talking ****.

I'd imagine they would go for Kammy and and ex player, Jimmy Bullard possibly? He hasn't been on TV recently (As far as I'm aware), so he would probably jump at the chance, if it was offered to him. <laugh>
