Another nice easy start. **** mine every year we start with a difficult game. That is a very tricky August and could end up with only 3 points at the end of it. With the possible resurgence of the NE sides will be very difficult.
How on earth do we ALWAYS start the season with a tricky fixture?! ... Although worked out alright last season
Well look at it this way we have got to play them all at sometime so why not it is a nice way to start and end the season in between just get on with it
FIXture the appropriate wording I think. How on earth can our first matches always be so tough (QPR aside)? Season 1 : Man City away Season 2 : QPR away Season 3 : Man United home Season 4 : Man United away Season 5 : Chelsea away ???? WTF
......and our last away game, Vs West Ham, will be their last game at boleyn/upton park ground before shipping off to the Olympic Stadiium, not easy but should be fun. First 7 games (coz 7's my lucky number) Chelsea (a) = 0pts Newcastle United (h) = 3pts Sunderland (a) = 3pts Manchester United (h) = 0pts Watford (a) = 3 pts Everton (h) = 3 POINTS Southampton (a) = 0 pts Decent start and another top ten finish would be good.
[QUOTE="Stumpy, post: 8043923, member: 1009237" top ten again would be good[/QUOTE] Throw in a League Cup win,and that would equate to The Great Dane's achievement. Now wouldn't that be nice.
I would be delighted if we could get those 12 points! Also I see you have given up on doing the Man Utd double again I also think its about time we got something from a trip to Chelsea and Dick 'Snowball' Advocaat (for those 1970s aficionados among us) will make Sunderland a tricky place to go, So overall I think we will do well to get 10 points from these games. But you know what I guess these teams are also looking at their fixtures and saying "oh no we have to play Swasea early on"!!
I know we shouldnt focus on other team's fixtures but I see that Liverpool have to play Stoke, Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and Manchester City in 'their first seven away games! A tricky start for any team although tempered by the fact that their 1st three home games are Bournmenouth, West Ham and Norwich. Brendan now appears to be the bookies favourite to be first PL manager to get the chop!
Our last 3 home games of the season are Liverpool, Chelsea and man city. Jesus. Very difficult end to the season.
Although December looks very favourable, apart from man city away we could be picking up a fair few points there.
Someone definitely don't like us ...even going by the law of averages you would not get the first games like we have had since we have been in the premiership, We really need to pile up the points in the first half of the season and try to reach the safety mark or as close as we can to the safety mark by xmas... Ok maybe Chelsea in our first game may be a good thing as we play them cold but it's about time we had a home start against someone other than a title contender......Im confident that there are at least half a dozen teams if not more that we are better than and should finish in the top half but it pisses me off that they try to make it difficult for us with the start and the finish every season........come on monk work your magic and make history and have a better season than last season no matter what they throw at us...
12pts is well possible though Glam but I love your optimism re Chelsea and Man utd Another Man Utd double would be so sweet though wouldn't it? Agree Sunderland will be tricky, Newcastle too, but I think we are a better team than they are so we should get 6pts but I'll take 4. Do you know if Chelsea have any players away for the Copa America. I think we will be missing Monterro and Fernandez
