It's overcast in Jersey as well and we had some rain overnight. However, yesterday we had the sort of weather that agreed with the tourism adverts. If it's that hot on Saturday, I feel sorry for those taking part in the round the island walk - I had to retire about 3/4 of the way round in 2001 or 2002 because it was too hot and walking that distance in that heat was causing problems with my asthma.
Morning all, a beautiful sunny day promised here with temperature about 25°C which is comfortable. Still waiting for news about my car. The garage is very busy, but promised I would hear from them this morning at the latest. My 88 year old neighbour is back to driving her car after her hip operation. She now can do her own shopping again with the aid of her elbow crutches. She has refused to give in and has already been out watering her plants at the front of the house. Many years ago she lived in my cottage when it was just the one room and brought up four children in it. In those days all the cooking for the family was done over the open fire and it was an event of note when electricity arrived in the hamlet.
A short update from me. I think I said my mum... 94... had a fall and was taken into hospital again 10 days ago and then discharged. This is all after her brain bleed in February which was misdiagnosed Well the upshot is she had ongoing headaches etc and I finally convinced our gp to refer her back and after a long stint in hospital yesterday finally convinced the consultant ot give her a CT scan.... and lo and behold what we ourselves thought is the case... she has had a haemorrigic stroke... being checked out today... but it is still bleeding which is very worrying etc. Just thought to update you as I am sort of using the board as a distraction from it all... So my off the wall and occasionally irrational postings have some cause!
I love the fact people with real stresses in their lives see this place as a distraction from it all. All the best Yorkie and hope things improve for your mum and the rest of you.

It is hot and humid at Singapore airport. I'm on my way to London to visit my elderly Aunt. I was going to come in November but I had a phone call at the weekend telling me that that may be too late. She is 89 so it's not too unexpected. We are close and apparently she is thrilled that I am coming, so it is worth it for her as well as me. I will be coming to her memorial service, whenever that is, so I will probably be begging a ticket for whatever game is on that weekend!
