is it greedy? Bertrand 16 mill, chambers 16 mill , shaw 30mill. I'm not saying 20 mill is right i just think we could get more than 10
Supposedly we've loaned him to Sunderland for 2 million with no additional clauses like first dibs and so forth. Kind of glad we're keeping a tie to him but it does feel very Citeh-ish.
The big question will Barca rock up to us and start spouting all that DNA crap about Bellerin? Does anyone know if we've tied Bellerin down to a big contract or can Barca come over with their usual tactics. If we haven't then we'd need a Jenks return option.
Current deal/old deal was due to expire at the end of 2017 and he'd reportedly been close to signing one which would end 2019. Guess that's either not true or he's not done it yet as I can't find anything online (in an admittedly brief search).
I had a look too and all the news around March/April time was of Arsenal/Arsene saying they were going to offer Bellerin a contract and wanted to tie him down until 2019. And also of Bellerin saying he wanted to stay at Arsenal, and he didn't want to go to Barca to be the new RB. (though that could have been newspapers exaggerating). But nothing to say he's definitely signed a contract...
It would be prudent for us to tie him down to a big contract. If he continues to develop the way he has, a lot of clubs will come knocking.
Rumours that even though they are willing to let him go out on loan again next season Arsenal will offer Jenkinson a new contract
Probably the best of both worlds - might suggest we could offload Debuchy after next season and have Bellerin and Jenks as our 2 RBs...
Would prefer he went to Southampton really. Really good academy there and they play much better football than Sunderland.
The Saints would be the most logical movie. We have a good relationship with them and they are the best run footballing teams besides Arsenal.
The problem with Jenks going to the Saints is how much playing time is he going to get.It seems a bit pointless sending him there if he's just going to sit on his arse playing back up to Clyne
Rumour has it that Clyne is being watched by the Pool. So if they are interested, he could be off and Southampton would be the perfect place for Jenks to develop.
